“I’m not sure. We’ll start there.”

“You’re acting like you have the upper hand in this situation. I’ll tolerate a bit of tit for tat, girl, but we’ve got to come to an agreement. I won’t be blackmailed. There are other ways to keep you quiet, ya know?”

“What’s your gang going to do to me that wouldn’t upset my mom?”

“Monday night?”

“Yes. And I need a ride home after someone fixes my leg.”

“I thought you came with a friend.”

“Not just a friend, my cousin, but Leo left as soon as mom got here. Before the fight. So, I need a ride. If not you, I’m sure another biker won’t mind.”

“I’ll take you. I want to make sure you get home safe,” I said but had an ulterior motive. Taking her home, I’d find out where Maddie lived. I left to grab Junebug.

She took her sweet time, getting her supplies from the back office. “Memphis said you’re leaving us.”

“I didn’t say any such thing.”

Junebug swung open cabinets and slammed them, looking for everything she needed. “The love of your life was here tonight. We just figure that if you marry her, we won’t be invited to the big house anymore.” She spoke of the building I used for my residence.

I had no idea if I’d ever have another thing to do with the whores if Maddie agreed to be my ol’ lady, but I needed Junebug tonight to fix up Sky. “Love or not, marriage or not, Maddie will have to learn our lifestyle. You and Memphis mean the world to me. You’ve been with me for twenty years. Outlasted so many women. But you know how it is. I might need to look like I’ve given you up for a spell. I’m sure, I’ll be back. I’m not going to give up all the perks of being President.”

Buying my lies, Junebug stitched the cut on Sky’s leg while I went to retrieve my boots, my colors and my leather jacket. The nights were still cool. When I made it back to Sky and saw her bare arms, I handed my jacket to her.

Goliath asked if he should follow me.

“Hang back,” I said as I usually did. I rarely went anywhere alone.

I climbed on my Harley with nothing but my vest on my back. Well, Sky climbed on and covered me. She told me the address. I punched it in my phone and slipped it in my pocket. I’d use the GPS on my watch to get us there. New technology made life so easy. Speaking of such, I pressed the magic button on my Harley missing the kickstart of old. At least the new Road King sounded like a hog. As its rumble calmed me, Sky squirmed behind me. She’d been surprised by the roar. Her reaction caused a hunger I couldn’t satisfy. I recalled exploring her soft skin with my mouth, with my teeth. Her moans as I took her just this night exhilarated me again. Remembering her scream while I cut her flesh, if she were anyone else, I’d have her again and again. I’d see how loud I could make her scream and then try to muffle them. She clasped her hands above my navel and my dick responded. Fuck. Instantly, I was hard.

Racing down the road, the wind helped blow thoughts of fucking Maddie’s daughter away. There was only one woman who’d haunted my dreams for the last twenty some years, and I was on my way to her house. When we arrived, Sky hopped off the back. I cut the engine.

“What are you doing?” She asked.

“Sneak inside. I’m going to talk to your mom.”

“This isn’t mom’s place. This is Leo’s place.”

“Where’s Maddie staying?”

“Grandma died and left her a house. I’m not telling you where.”

“Aight, get inside,” I acted like I’d given up, but I remembered where Maddie lived growing up. I knew for a fact her mother never moved. I’d rode past the cul-de-sac a time or two over the years. I waited for Sky to get safely inside before I took off. Once she disappeared, I realized she had my jacket. Oh, well. I was on my way to Maddie’s place.

Chapter 13

Kingpin

Tearing into her driveway, I spied Maddie sitting on her porch steps. Her iPhone illuminated her face in the dark. I parked my hog beside an old minivan and made my way to her. She stood to greet me. I noticed that somehow she’d changed out of the gown she wore earlier. Now she wore a simple t-shirt and jeans.

“Waiting for me?”

“No. I’m locked out. My daughter has the only key, and she works late.”

“You didn’t think you were coming home tonight?”

“I was planning to stay at Bubba’s but in the guest room. But I drove home.”
