“I went after him during our initiation,” I reminded him. “I think that speaks for itself.”

Saxton gave us all a collaborating nod before speaking, and I had to give the guy points for what he did next. “While I called you guys here for Order business, this also involves your personal business, Stone,” he said. “Do you want to do this in private first?”

Saxtondidn’t owe me that. If this had anything to do with The Order, he was in his right to say whatever he had to say out in the open. We were bound to each other and The Order more than we were bound to our supporters unless I had gone ahead and married Rylee. A wife was at the top of the food chain in the organization.

“Nah,” I threw out casually, though I was feeling anything but. “It’s fine.”

“Rylee stopped by Kincaid’s to ask her if she or her family were going to suffer any repercussions from the cancelled Hera contract,” he began, and surprise was Ross and Fox’s first reactions.

“What the fuck?” Ross exclaimed.

“Cancelled?” Fox asked, confused.

“Stone broken off the engagement and cancelled the contract,” Saxton informed them.

Both guyslooked at me, and I just shrugged. “The girl’s a slut. I got out just in time.”

Saxton shook his head a bit. “But she’s not, Stone.”

My eyes narrowed. “What do you mean?”

I stood there, emotions whirling around uncontrollably in the pit of my stomach, as Saxton Voss recounted everything Rylee told him and Kincaid from the moment she arrived at Kincaid’s front door to when he walked out and texted us all, demanding an emergency meeting. When he was done with his story and theories about August and Laney, I felt like I’d never be able to get enough air in my lungs to function properly ever again.

“Sonofabitch,” Ross hissed between his clenched jaw. “That motherfucker.”

“I knew he was nothing but a no-good cocksucker,” Fox added.

“The only problem is that we can’t prove any of it,” Saxton remarked. “Laney’s the one who sent the texts, leaving August completely in the clear, and it would be her word against Rylee’s.”

“Oh, c’mon,” Ross bit out. “The timing of the apology, the texts, and his stupid request for a meeting are too coincidental for Alexander to ignore, Voss.”

“Not to mention the focal point of his stupid meeting had been loopholes to the Hera contracts,” Fox added. “It’s plain as day what they did.”

Saxton glanced over at me. “Did you notify Alexander of your decision yet?”

I had to swallow to get mythroat working again. “No,” I answered. “I was going to do it in the morning.”

“I don’t think Alexander is going to take thisseriously without proof,” he said. “And, again, Laney would have to give August up, and I don’t think she’s going to do that. She’s probably aware of the repercussions of interference just as much as August is.” Saxton shook his head. “There’s no way either one of them are going to admit to this.”

“So, what the fuck do we do now?” Fox asked.

Saxton jerked his head my way. “It’s up to him. He’s the one who cancelled the contract. It’s his relationship they interfered with.”

“I haven’t officially cancelled it yet,” I reminded him, fury coating everything I was saying.

However, his next words were enough to gut me where I stood. “She asked me for Alexander’s number, so she could cancel the contract herself, Stone,” he reminded me. “She also said she wanted nothing to do with any of us ever again, including the girls.” He gave me a sympathetic shake of his head. “She’s done, Stone.”

“No,she’s not,” I argued. “I might have fucked up, but it’s not over.”

“So,what do you want to do?” Ross asked, and in thinking about that, the first thing I wanted to do was find Rylee and make things right.

Always having the way paved for me, regret wasn’t something I was familiar with. I was a Lexington, and with the world at my fingertips, it was too easy for me to demand that everything be my way or no way. No one’s ever been brave enough to question me on any of it. I knew it was the same for the three guys standing with me. Hell, it was the same for August Remington, no matter how immoral he might be. Money, power, and status ruled our worlds, and the entitlement was finally coming back to bite me in the ass.

I wasn’t sure if Rylee was ever going to forgive me. I seriously doubted that she might. Even believing that August and Laney were behind this, they’re not the ones who fucked her, used her, then discarded her like a piece of trash.

Iwas the one who did all that.

Luckyfor me-and unlucky for her-I hadn’t called Alexander yet to cancel the contract, so, for all intents and purposes, Rylee was still mine.
