“Get used to it,” was his simple reply, and I snorted, trying to keep my laugh in.

Ipulled back and looked into his gorgeous face. “Phone calls and some date nights,” I clarified. “Just no…don’t stop by tomorrow with stationary patterns and lists of wedding venues, you know?”

With his left hand still on the back of my neck, his other hand came up to cradle my jaw. “Fuck, you’re beautiful,” he breathed out on a whisper. “You’re so fucking beautiful, Rylee.”

“I can’t think when you say things like that to me,” I confessed. “Actually, I can hardly think whenever you’re around.”

My entire body flared with heat when he said, “And that’s how I know fucking you is going to be more than just great sex. I’m willing to bet everything that I own that sliding inside you is going to be the most important spiritual experience I will ever have.”

“Oh, God…” I moaned. “You can’t say things like that to me, Stone.”

He leaned in, his voice a whisper in my ear. “Does it make you wet, Rylee? Is that why I can’t say shit like that to you? Does it make you want to open your legs for me?”

My breaths felt labored, and I swear the blood in my ears sounded like crashing waves. It was on the tip of my tongue to lie but lying wasn’t how you got to know someone better. “Yes,” I admitted, and his groan was the only indication that he heard me.

Stonepulled back and those chocolate orbs of his were burning with wicked promises. “An amendment to our deal?”

“What kind of amendment?” I asked, and I was slightly embarrassed over how breathless I sounded.

“I’ll give you all the phone calls and date nights you want,” he said. “But in return, the second you feel positive about me, and the kind of man I am, you tell me, and we get married immediately.”

“What?”

“I’m willing to give you the entire four weeks, Rylee. But if you feel ready to marry me before then, you tell me, and we’ll do it,” he clarified. “You have the entire four weeks, but you don’t have to take them just because you have them. Understand?”

I grinned slightly. “Can’t wait four weeks to have sex with me?” The statement had been said as a joke, but I could tell he hadn’t taken it that way.

His thumb moved over my bottom lip softly. “You and I both know I could have sex with you right now if I wanted to push it and manipulate you into giving in to me,” he stated, and I couldn’t argue the truth of it. “But that’s not what I want. Rylee, I can’t wait four weeks to make youmine.”

“God, this is so crazy,” I said again.

“Labeling it crazy doesn’t make it any less true,” he countered, and then he left me there, useless, as he kissed the side of my head, stood up, then walked out of the library.

LikeI was going to get any studying done now?

Not likely.

Chapter 17

Stone~

It was Thursday evening, and this going slow shit was testing me in ways I never imagined.

Rylee and I have had only one date night, which had been on Wednesday, and it was so chaste that we might as well have had a chaperon with us, riding in a sixteenth-century horse-drawn carriage.

While we had spent the entire dinner at Maureen’s, talking about our lives, families, and future goals, it had been hard to stay focused when all I had wanted to do was attack the girl.

Hell, these days, it was all I wanted to do.

Whenever Ryleewas near, my body craved her like it knew that she was my mate, and my mate for life. The feeling was animalistic, and if Rylee had any idea of the things that I wanted to do to her, she’d run for the sake of her sanity.

And even though she had requested space, I still made random appearances throughout the day on campus. There were still a few people who refused to believe that I was dating Rylee, much less engaged to her, and that wasn’t working for me. I wanted every swinging dick in town to know that Rylee belonged to me, and only me.

Especially, that slimy fuck Remington.

I still had a lot of reservations about August Remington, and I knew I’d sleep easier once Rylee was legally married to me. Still, I suspected his interest in her-whether in the past or still in the present-would always bother me. However, there wasn’t much I could do about it unless he overstepped. At that point, I’d have no problem kicking his ass.

At home, getting ready to make something to eat before I had to head to my next class, my phone rang with a familiar ringtone, and I knew I had to answer it. In all actuality, I was surprised that he’d waited an entire week to call me.
