Page 62 of Giving Up

“Jake,” she sighs. “Don’t make promises you can’t keep. Please.” Her last word is a plea, but I find it hard to give a fuck.

Camila and I were never good together, but I was never the monster of her story. I wasn’t good to her, but she was horrible to me too. We brought the worst out of each other, we were the epitome of toxicity.

“You don’t love me, Cam. Stop acting like it,” I scold her.

She violently throws my shirt on the floor and turns around fuming. “You don’t fucking know that! You broke my heart, do you give a shit at all? Huh?”

In return for her vulnerable honesty and anger, I give her a predatory smile. She fucked up. She should know not to drop her defenses around me.

I walk to her slowly, giving her time to regret her words, and stop only an inch away from her.

“Get on your knees.”

“Jake,” she sighs desperately. “I–”

“Youare going to get on your fucking knees, choke on my cock and think about the way you address yourself to me. Who fucked our relationship, Cam?”

She doesn’t reply, looking away, avoiding my gaze. I grab her exposed pussy roughly, making her gasp. She’s wet for me. Nothing unusual here.

“Who?” I insist. “Who cheated on who first, come on, admit it.”

“Me!”

“That’s right. So don’t talk to me about breaking hearts.Youwanted some other guy’s dick in your cunt. So why are you pissing me off now, huh? Get on your fucking knees, Cam. You know there’s only one thing you’re good for now. So, execute.”

I let go of her pussy and let her sink to her knees, her skirt still above her hips, her underwear on the floor next to us. She’s unbuckling my belt when the door to the adjacent room opens.

“I’ll meet you downstairs–” The voice I recognize too well stops suddenly.

Camila shrieks as she stumbles back on her feet and pulls her skirt down.

“Leave, you fucking perv!” she screams at Jamie, whose narrowed eyes hold nothing but fury.

She’s not even disappointed, nor surprised. Because she doesn’t expect anything better from me. I thought she had left the house, I didn’t think she was here let alone in a bedroom. My heart drops in my stomach so hard I feel like I’ve swallowed poison. She was in a bedroom. With Cole.

“Leave,” I repeat, barely any emotion in my voice.

Jamie crosses her arm over her chest, planting her feet to the ground.

“You heard him, Goody. Get your ugly ass out of here,” Camila spits her venom at my ex.

Myex. No that doesn’t sound right. It really doesn’t.

“I was talking to you, Camila,” I specify.

A smirk spreads on Jamie’s lips as the real ex gasps in shock. “Are you for fucking real right now?”

“I don’t know, do you want to test and see?” I turn to her, holding her gaze in my threatening one.

She shrieks, literallyshrieks, curses at both of us, and storms out, slamming doors in her way.

“You didn’t have to ask her to leave,” Jamie assures calmly as she approaches the sink. “I’m just washing my hands.”

She slowly opens the tap water, washes her hands with the soap Camila left on the side, and completely ignores me.

I watch her tanned shoulders move to the rhythm of her scrubbing and that’s when it hits me. The jacket she was wearing is gone, only leaving her with a fucking bra on.

“Are you fucking kidding me?” I growl as I approach her from the back. She watches me in the mirror as she turns off the tap and grabs a towel without moving from her position. “You wear bras to parties now?”
