“How did you find out?” he asks quietly.

“You know what, it was only a suspicion until last weekend. I just knew you guys went to the gym at the same time in the morning and I thought that was interesting. It was in the way she looked at you and the way you always avoided touching her. Then you punched her date at the Winter Ball, and I thought that was strange. Andthenyou got drunk last weekend. And you got sloppy as fuck. Couldn’t help yourself but touch her…and fuck if she blushes when you do. You fucking called herSweets. How cute. The way you tried to save the situation…”

“Alright. Enough.”

“I guess there’s also the fact that I heard you guys fuck in the guest bedroom. Those moans…bro, did you grow a golden dick since our last sexcapade?”

“You’re about a second away from losing your teeth.”

“Fine,” I smile. “I’ll stop. But I must say, it’s cute that she knows how you eat your eggs.”

“Jake–”

“Luke will kill you. I know he’s small, and I know you could take him. But you underestimate what it’s like to want to protect your sister. Lukewillkill you if he finds out.”

“Are you done with avoiding the topic?” he asks in a guttural voice.

“I didn’t do it,” I answer in my most serious voice.

He turns toward the sofa, shaking his head at the same time. “Did he do it?”

Ozy is on the sofa, twisted so she can watch us, with her arms on the back of it and her head resting on her forearms. She doesn’t even bother straightening up, she just shakes her head in negation.

“The fact that you have to ask me is beyond my understanding,” she replies. “Of course he didn’t.”

I let out a much needed sigh of relief. Finally someone on my side. My twin never lets me down.

“The problem isn’t if Jake did it or not,” Ozy says as she gets up. “It’swhofucking did it. Because while you two fuck girls you shouldn’t, Jamie is now parentless. I have nothing in common with the girl and, really, I wasn’t hoping this would be the first thing we bond over.”

I nod to her. “Where is she? I need to talk to her.”

“No, you need to leave her the fuck alone and sort it out.”

“But—”

“Fix it, Jake,” she seethes.

“I will!” I defend myself.

“Who did it?” she asks.

“I don’t know—”

“Then fuckingthink.”

“I was the only one with that document.”

“Who did it, Jake.”

“I’m thinking, Rose!” I rage at her. She’s on me the next second, in my fucking face, pulling at my nerves.

“When did you delete it?”

Images flash in my head. Of the night of the Winter Ball. Jamie and I in my bedroom, the party at the pool house. So many fucking people.

“Are you thinking? Or are you daydreaming?”

“Shut up!”
