Cheryse had felt this intensity one other time in her life, the night she'd accidentally killed her first husband. When he had lunged at her in a drunken stupor, holding a knife, she'd dodged it and then shoved a knife into his stomach. That memory flashed into her mind as her adrenaline spiked.

Ava shook her shoulder. “Cheryse, got it?”

Serenity stepped beside her. “Don’t worry, Ava, we got it.”

Cheryse yanked her attention back to the present and nodded. “Got it.”

She wouldn't freak out right now, not when the people she loved needed her most.

Kensi had Trey Junior and little Chloe next to her. Kat took baby Gem and put him in Cheryse’s arms. “I just fed him. Keep his pacifier in and he'll sleep if you hold him.”

Trent frowned at Kat. "You stay here, too."

Kat cocked her hand gun. "No way. There's ten guys out there, you need me."

Trent nodded. "Okay." He turned to Cheryse. "You good?"

Cheryse knew she was in shock, but she nodded, cuddling the baby closer. “Got it.”

Ava paused. “I know we don’t have much time, but let’s pray first.”

Trent motioned them all in and bowed his head. "I've spent a lot of time praying lately and I'll tell you, it works."

Chapter 34

Hunter only knew one thing; it didn't matter how much blood was shed; it didn't matter that Banks had given them a year off of his maniacal treasure hunt. If Banks hurt any of the women and children, Hunter would kill him.

“As we come down, we can expect fire. Get your weapons ready,” Trey barked.

There had only been one text from Ava, and he and his brothers were going crazy. What was Banks doing at the house?

As they descended, it was pretty easy to see the situation at hand.

“Are you kidding me?” Marshall stood next to him, weapon ready.

Masked thugs surrounded a few of the women. He saw Kat, Ava, Dawn, Lucy, and Liberty.

And Trent in the middle of them.

Hunter's heart raced and he wanted to burst with laughter and tears. "He really is back!"

Marshall let out a laugh and so did Trey and Matt and Tim. "Can't keep a Stone down!"

Brooks kept his eyes narrowed. "Focus up, guys, there'll be time to celebrate after."

Trey turned to Hunter. “I want your sniper rifle on Banks’ head. If any firing starts, take the shot.”

Hunter already had his gun aimed. “Ten-four.” His mind raced. Where was Cheryse?

Matt was behind them. “Is Lucy okay?”

Tim was on his other side. “Lucy looks like she's okay. It looks like they're in a standoff. I bet Ava had everyone else stay in the panic room.”

Their father’s office. Hunter had helped Trey install high-tech security in that room. If the women were in there, they were armed to the teeth, which made him feel a little better. He longed to pull out his phone and text Cheryse, but he had to focus.

The bird dropped to the ground next to the standoff and, in true Mr. Banks style, he walked toward them.

“The man has guts; I'll give him that. Too bad those guts will be shot out today.” Marshall jumped out of the helicopter. His gun was trained on Banks, too.
