“Really?” He laughed, unable to believe this.

“I’ve been judging the whole situation with Roger wrong for a long time.”

This woman was like dynamite in his arms. Or maybe he was the one who was dynamite. Like he would explode at any second if he didn’t have another kiss with her.

She traced the side of his face. “I thought you weren’t stable because of your job, but all I could think about today was how you have been my best friend for all these years. Through all the ups and downs, you never second-guessed my intentions. We might not get along all the time—”

“Never have.” He laughed.

Her finger bopped his nose. “But the year you left, and I didn’t have you anymore, was actually the darkest time in my life.” She blinked, and tears formed in her eyes. “I missed you.”

“Can I kiss you?”

She let out a light laugh. “I’d be disappointed if you didn’t.”

He pressed his lips to hers, and fireworks went off inside him. He deepened the kiss quickly and pulled her as close as he could get her. If this was the last moment in his life, he would’ve considered his life well lived.

Good thing it wasn’t the last. There was still a treasure to find.

“Seriously, get a room, people!” Marshall called out.

“Circle up, boys,” Trey said. “Let’s go see what Banks is after.”

As the Stone men moved toward the helicopter, a car pulled up.

Hunter instantly recognized Liberty’s Mustang.

His brothers noticed at the same time, and approached her car in unison.

It was stupid, but Hunter was nervous. He and Cheryse had tried to call her several times, and his family had talked about how much they missed her.

Liberty got out of the car, holding a wrapped baby gift. She paused and faced the big group of men. She looked like she would cry for a second, before noticing the helicopter. “Unless we're going to do an extreme baby shower where we bungee-jump out, I'm guessing that something is going on with Banks.”

Hunter couldn't stop himself. He choked back emotion and rushed at her, pulling her into a tight hug. “Lib. I'm so glad you're here. We've missed you.” It would've been weird to hold her so long, but she was Trent's wife.

Marshall gently pushed him out of the way. “Hey, don't hog her.”

Hunter moved, and Marshall wrapped her into a hug. He held her just as tightly as Hunter had. When he pulled back, Brooks took a turn, pulling her into an uptight FBI kind of hug. Hunter was actually impressed that he had hugged her.

Then Brooks moved back and nodded. “We got a lead on Banks and we were about to go.”

“Of course you do,” Liberty said, blinking hard. “You’re Stone men. Stone men don't stop.”

Trey was there, pulling her into a hug. He held her tight and for a long time. “We don't stop. And we’re glad you're here.”

Liberty pulled away and gave them all a small grin. “Well, go. Finish what Trent started.”

“Liberty!” Ava rushed down the stairs toward them.

Then all the women trailed out of the house, rushing toward Liberty. Cheryse stood back, a huge smile on her face.

“We’ve got to go,” Trey called to the men.

Hunter and his brothers got into the helicopter. As they shut the door, Hunter saw Liberty embrace Cheryse.

He thought of what Kensi had said to him.Home is where your people are. The treasure is all of us.

A stab of pain went through his heart. Trent was gone, and he would never come home. But somehow, they were all moving on. Liberty was back, and he was grateful for that.
