“The name of the castle bothers me, Dùn Airgid. I can find very little about it on the internet and no mention anywhere of a society wedding.” Rolf mused.
“Castle Silver? Could be a coincidence.”
“Yes, until you take the other facts into consideration. I mentioned Selene is adopted because I want you to get Brian to do a background check on them both. There is a son who works for some undisclosed charity in Colombia, South America. Apparently, this unnamed role involves a lot of travelling.”
“Ah, now that does raise a big red flag.” Connal agreed.
“Precisely, too much of a coincidence. The sect that considers us to be werewolves, connects silver to the moon. It is the mutual connection that allows silver to harm werewolves and although they are myths, lycanthropes or shifters are not.”
“They got one thing right though, silver can kill us if it enters our bodies in the right place. Look how that silver necklace Susi received from her school friend on her tenth birthday scorched the skin of her neck.”
“Yes, I remember only too well. It was the moment we had to tell her she was part of a shifter pack.”
“It wasn’t your fault she took it badly; she was too young to accept such shocking news…I’ll get onto Brian right away. Anything else?”
“Yes, I don’t want Susi returning to Uni after the weekend.”
“Seriously, bro? How am I meant to keep her here?”
“I’ll speak with her.”
Connal rolled his eyes. “Good luck with that.”
His brother’s sarcasm caused a growl to vibrate through his chest; he could see the ominous sound giving his brother pause. Rolf forced his inner wolf to retreat as his beta apologized for his rash words and left the room hurriedly, muttering assurances he would immediately contact their cousin Brian in Ireland, who was their pack’s security wizard.
Rolf stared unseeingly at his computer screen. Should he allow Selene to go to Scotland in the hope she’d return to him safely, or should he intervene and snatch her away before any disaster befell her? His wolf intuition had never failed him in the past, and this so-called wedding had every one of those senses screaming on high alert.

“Let me get this straight. You think you’ve met your mate and because she doesn’t remember being invited to some random wedding in Scotland, you want to kidnap her and fly me to the pack safehouse in Ireland? Seriously, bro, you’re a sandwich short of a picnic, tell him, Connal!”
“We-ll, the thing is, Susi-Q, Brian agrees with the Alpha. This adopted family of Selene’s is very suspect. The son of this couple who supposedly works for a charity is known in Colombia as a paranormal investigator. He is a man we’ve monitored for some years. We suspect he was responsible for the destruction of an entire pack of Shifters in America last year, but he vanished without leaving any trace he’d been involved. The name he goes under is currently unknown, as is his exact location. He changes both regularly. Our sources say he works for the group who were responsible for the Hemming couple’s deaths. This raises my hackles. I say we go with the Alpha’s plan which means, little sister, you do as you’re damn well told!” Connal glared at his sister.
“Seriously?”
“Seriously,” the two brothers echoed.
“Geez!” Susi stalked from the room, slamming the door behind her.
“That went well,” Rolf said sarcastically.
“I thought so,” Connal agreed with a cheeky grin.
“So, we’re all set for tonight?”
“We are. Cousin Brian and team should arrive in about an hour.”
“In that case, I’ll get some shuteye. Wake me when they get here.”
“Yes, Alpha.”
Rolf kicked off his shoes and laid on his bed. His phone trilled. Selene’s name showed on the screen, causing his heart rate to quicken. “Hi there.”
“Hi yourself. Look, I know this is short notice, but I’ve had a few cancellations and I wondered if you’d like to meet up somewhere tomorrow?”
“Sure. Coincidently, I have a free day tomorrow…What did you have in mind?”
“I thought we might meet halfway and have lunch?”
