Odysseus looked down at her, his hands curving around her waist again. “Thing is, I’m now even more attracted to you. Things I want to show you, teach you. Only thing is that now I’ve got to take things more slowly than I initially planned.”

Adriana wanted to tell him there was no need for it. At this point, she almost had no doubts about him, and while her lack of sexual history was more due to a lack of choice and interest as opposed to any particular decision, she was almost sure she wanted it to be with him.

“How slow exactly is more slowly?”

“Let’s just say that when we finally get down to it, you’d be begging me so much you’d almost want to kill me.”

Adriana’s breath left her in a whoosh, her body moving closer to his until they were one again. She initiated the kiss, going on her tiptoes to get to him. She wasn’t surprised when he lowered his head and met her kiss. He wanted her too much to deny her.

ChapterThree

It had been great, living on the planet Aglaia. She was in a city that was designed to look like Earth to make the newcomers feel more welcome. She was even given a cell phone device to contact home and new friends she met. She was nose first in a book when her phone buzzed. Seeing the name on the screen, her face curved in a smile. It was almost two weeks since she and Odysseus met at that party, and in that time, they had spoken on the phone almost every day and had gone on two dates. The first date had been to a pizza place Odysseus swore made the best pizza. He was right. For the second date, he had taken her miniature golfing, and even though they had gone neck and neck for most of the game, she had ended up winning. To punish her, he had kissed her so soundly at her door that Adriana’s legs had buckled, and she had made a series of embarrassing noises that had her roommate giggling. But the last few days, they both had been too busy to see each other. So, they spent a lot of time talking to each other on the phone. Late nights, whispering into her phone, she giggled, and they argued the merits of using a warrior instead of a mage in an adventure game.

Now, as she saw his name on the screen, that feeling of giddiness she got when she talked to him was back.

“Hey.”

“Wanna come to my place tonight?” he asked without any preamble.

Adriana paused, not sure how she should answer. She knew she wanted to know where he lived, had heard enough about his new Xbox console that she was curious enough to want to see it. But she wasn’t sure they had gotten there yet. Actually, that wasn’t entirely true. Adriana wasn’t sure she should accept his invitation because it would mean another step forward in their new and budding relationship. And while it wasn’t weird her seeing his place two weeks after they met, what she knew was that she wasn’t sure she knew enough about him to feel this strongly about him.

“Adriana?” he asked when the pause became too long.

“Um, hey . . .”

“Thought I lost you there for a few seconds.”

“No, I’m here.”

“So, what do you say? Me and you, my place. You’ve been boasting about how you’re going to beat me atMario Kart. Don’t tell me you’ve suddenly turned chicken.”

Adriana smiled. “Maybe I’m scared you’d be so ashamed after I whoop your ass, you’ll never ever invite me to your place again.”

He scoffed. “As if. Come on, I want you here. I’ll even go easy on you, and when I’m done beating you, I’ll make it up to you with a kiss.”

“Or I make it up to you with a kiss when I completely obliterate you?” Adriana said with a chuckle.

“So you’ll come?”

“Sure.”

“Great.”

He sounded so excited to hear her answer Adriana’s heart melted just a little bit more.

“So, how do I get there?”

“Don’t worry, I’ll be at your place in about fifteen minutes. We’ll stop to grab food before we come back to my place together.”

Adriana thought about it. The drive-thru where he would get the food was closer to his place than hers. She knew because he told her how he sometimes got the munchies when he played and had to make a quick run to grab food. It would be better if she met him there and then they could go to his place together. At least she thought it would be better until she told him this.

“Don’t worry, Ari. I don’t mind driving over to pick you up.”

“I just think it would be better—”

“Ari!” That assertive tone made her go quiet immediately. “We’re not arguing about this. I get that you think it would be stressful for me. I already told you I don’t mind, which means the only reason why you wouldn’t want me to come pick you up is because you’re not really sure you want to come.”

“Of course I want to come,” Adriana replied.
