“Trusting you isn’t the problem. I already know you’ll keep me safe. Keep us safe.” She rubs her stomach lightly. “What if something happens to you?”
“Nothings going to happen to me. I’m one of the best at what I do.”
She rolls her eyes at me. “Which is something I can’t know about. I do however know it's dangerous as hell. You can’t deny that!”
“No. I can’t but I will always come home to you.”
She sighs deeply, laying her forehead into my chest once more.
“We’ll see if I can learn to live with it.” She says a minute later.
Holding the sonogram in my hands, I vow that I will always keep them both safe with me.
Chapter 12
Jeramiah
Throwing back the shot, I slam the glass back down in front of me and wait for the bartender to fill it once more.
Something’s been off with me for months and my handler decided that I was too distracted so the Company has yet to reassign me a month later.
Throwing some money down on the bar to cover my tab, I grab my phone and walk back to the hotel that I’m currently staying in.
Locking the door behind me, I strip off my clothes on the way to the shower.
Just before turning on the water, I hear my computer signal that I have a new message.
Walking over to it, I open the encrypted email. Seems the Company has decided that a month's vacation is long enough.
Opening the files attached, I scan over it quickly. It’s a top secret mission that will require going into deep cover South of the border.
Shutting the computer, I walk into the shower and cut the water on. Stepping into the cold spray.
It’ll be good to get back into the action. Back to work, doing what I do best.
This mission is for Intel only. They are hoping to take down the head of the cartel.
