“It’s you,” I whispered, reverently tucking in a lock of her hair behind her ear. My fingers caressed the sides of her face, brushing away a tear that had slipped from her sea goddess eyes. “Amanda! It’s so wonderful to see you! But how—?”

She gave me a wobbly smile, her thumb running over my bottom lip. “I missed you so much that I overcame all my fears and traveled to Europe on my own.”

Tears tumbled from her eyes as I held her close, breathing in the familiar scent of her perfume—Soulmatesand something that was distinctly Amanda. It was a heady combination that drove me wild with need and longing.

“I’ve had so much time to think about everything,” I told her, my words tumbling out from my mouth in a rush. “What happened between us, what I wanted for myself. And then it became clear to me—I need you Amanda. I need you for my happiness.”

I looked deeply into her eyes and found love and happiness shining in them amidst the tears. I kissed them softly and wiped the ones that had fallen down her cheeks.

“You are the love of my life,” I told her fiercely. “And I never want to lose you again. Those three weeks without you were hell. I never want to go through that again…”

“I know,” she choked. “I feel the same way, Oliver. But I’m here now.”

I nodded. “Yes, you are, my brave little sweetheart.” I laughed and shook my head. “I had an awesome talk with one of my wiser patients and he opened my eyes to everything. I just never expected to see you here in my practice. In London! You said you would never travel on your own but…you’re here!”

And you’re marvelous!

And everything I ever dreamed of having and wanting…

She shook her head and smiled through her tears, her face blushing a very radiant pink. “Yes, I finally did it! I finally got the courage and made it, Oliver!” she beamed at me. “It wasn’t easy but I’ve made some developments over the past few weeks.”

“That you did,” I said softly, caressing her soft bottom lip. It had turned a nice red from our wild kiss just moments before.

She was grinning like a Cheshire cat, feeling mightily proud of herself.

I couldn’t be prouder of her myself.

“I’ve already started making arrangements to move back to Georgetown,” I told her seriously. “I was just on the phone with an old friend of mine. We’re still in the process of smoothing things out but I’m sure he would take over my practice without problems. I just never thought that you would fly all the way here and preempt me!”

She laughed, her eyes like dancing emeralds. “Yes, I did, didn’t I?”

I played with a lock of her hair. “And I’m glad that you did. I need you like a fish needs the water.”

“I feel absolutely the same way,” she confessed, biting her lip.

“The past twelve years were a mistake,” I told her. “I should never have left Georgetown or you. Everything I wanted was right there all along.”

“Well, every good thing needs time,” she smiled jauntily at me. “If you hadn’t left, then I wouldn’t have had the courage to follow you all the way here!”

I laughed at that. She did have a point—like a little bird, she had spread her wings and flew straight to me.

She laid her head on my rapidly beating heart, her arms coming around me. “It’s the summer vacation now, so I thought I would take the time to finally fulfill my wish of traveling Europe.”

“A splendid idea,” I murmured. “I could hand over my responsibilities to another cardiologist I know and then I can travel with you.” I cupped her cheeks with my hands. “You are the love of my life, Amanda. Wherever you go, there I will go, too.”

“Oh, Oliver,” she cried. “You are the love of my life, too. I would die without you!”

I kissed her again—this time, softly and sensuously. She was here. She was real.

And she wasn’t going anywhere.

She let out a soft moan as our tongues tangled with each other and I felt my blood heating at the sensual sound. I pressed her body close to my hardness and she gasped.

“Didn’t you say you were having chest pains, young lady?” I asked her in a low voice.

She took my hand and placed it over her left breast. “Right here, doctor. It hurts so much.”

“Then, of course, I will have to check you up thoroughly,” I told her, my voice becoming rough. “Just to make sure I do not miss anything.”
