Page 83 of Losing Control

“No, we played a little!” She finally sunk her ball after too many tries than she cared to admit on the first hole. Corbus then took the club and continued the conversation. “But then it got boring, and she found something else to do while I did homework and took a nap.”

“You…You took a nap.” Mykie couldn’t help but laugh. After what many would say is the most important event in high school, he actually just took a nap instead of having fun.

"You would have too if you were there!" he said, laughing along with her. "I've never been so bored, and none of my friends were there."

Mykie shook her head fondly. "You're probably right. I didn't stick around after my prom. My school didn't host an event afterward and just let us go home."

“Did you go to a party?” Corbus asked.

She watched him get the ball in with no struggle.

“No. I wasn’t fun back then.”

Corbus looked up from where he was marking their scores on a sheet of paper. “Maybe not, but you’re pretty fun now.”

She had lost count of what hole they were on as they got lost in each other’s company. They started talking about their favorites, debating whose tastes were better. By then, she saw that they were both starting to sweat.

“It’s really hot in here,” she commented.

“They share the building with the community center, and it has the same heating system.” He pointed to the right wall of the room. “If we go that direction, there’s a gym and a community pool.”

Mykie groaned, hitting the ball. Not even close to the hole, damn it. “I haven’t gone swimming in so long. How didn’t I know this place was here?”

“I guess it doesn’t bring in a lot of business, so it wasn’t on your radar,” Corbus said, taking the club from her.

“Can we take a dip?” Mykie asked.

Corbus looked at her wearily. "Neither of us have a bathing suit."

“Come on,” she said, pulling him in the direction that he pointed before. He stumbled at first, but then he began to lead the way, but not before giving the golf stuff back to the front desk. Corbus said something to the guy and after a stern conversation, he gave Corbus a set of keys.

With a jingle of the keys, he grabbed her hand and led her over to a door she didn’t notice before. He flipped through the set of keys before finally settling on a square-based one.

After they entered, the lights seemed to flick on from auto-detection, leaving them in a lowly lit pool room.

“Are we really going to do this?” He asked, closing the door behind them and locking it.

She walked over to the pool and toed her shoes off. Pulling off her sock first, she felt the water. Still warm, but not hot. She didn't waste any time as she pulled off her sweater, tossing it on the bench beside the pool and leaving her in her jeans and a bra.

She looked at Corbus with a sally smile. “Unless you’re too scared?”

Corbus rolled his eyes and started pulling his shirt off too. Soon enough, they were down to their underwear and with one last look at Corbus, Mykie jumped in.

Just as Mykie’s head surfaced above the water, Corbus jumped in with her, splashing her. She waited until he surfaced before she splashed him with her hands.

“What was that for?” he said, his voice outraged, but the smile on his face said another story.

Mykie giggled. “Just having fun.”

Corbus splashed her in response, which started a splash war between the both of them.

Eventually, Mykie was the one to cry mercy.

“All right, all right! You win!”

Once the splashing stopped on both sides, Mykie swam closer to him and looped her arms around his neck. Her legs came up around his waist and his hands held her under her thighs.

“Regret it now?” Mykie murmured.
