No. Not at all. I’m all wrong. No one shows up.

He signals to the valet, who rolls out a red Ferrari.

Aw…

Not only that.

Kai seems in a good disposition now that he talks to the valet and inadvertently almost shoots a glance in my direction.

Almost.

He’s not interested in anyone who might peer from inside the lobby. He doesn’t expect anyone. And he doesn’t have a meetup with any of his friends.

That’s the answer to my riddle.

Leisurely, he slides into the driver’s seat, turns the car around, and rolls smoothly to the nearest crossroads.

I gape a little. Yeah… Not because I’m a sucker for hot men in hot cars, although I may be a little, but because this is the second man leaving the hotel this morning while I’m still here, pacing around the lobby, trying to locate my phone.

I spin around and dash to the concierge desk.

“Have you seen Francisco Barreto, by any chance?” I ask the man directly.

I sound silly, but I can’t help myself.

The man has seen worse, so without flinching, smiling, or having the slightest reaction to my question, he moves his gaze to the opposite corner of the lobby.

“He walked to the gym an hour ago,” he says in a helpful tone.

I swallow hard. It’s time for me to leave.

Go back to my room and do something other than check on them.

“Thank you,” I deadpan.

“No problem. Let us know in case you need help with your phone.

“Yes. My phone… Sure. I will.”
