“Which one?” she asks tightly.

“The new girl.”

“Oh, that’s Raina,” Lacey says. “My roommate.”

I glance around. Raina. I remember now. She told me that once, but I’m not great with names. I have too many notches in my bedpost to remember them all.

“Are you going to introduce me?” I ask.

Lacey looks irritated, but I know she’ll do as I ask. She still wants a chance with me.

“You better behave yourself,” she sneers.

I chuckle. “It almost sounds like you were trying to tell me what to do.”

She rolls her eyes, but before she can clap back—now that she knows I won’t fuck her tonight—Raina appears.

“Here you are,” Lacey says in a syrupy-sweet voice. “This is Stone.”

“Yeah, we’ve met,” Raina says and glares at me.

She’s fucking beautiful. And that’s not the drugs talking, either. Dark hair, dark eyes, olive skin. But that attitude…fuck me.It makes me rock hard. I want to flip her over and take her from behind.

“How are you doing?” I ask.

“I was fine until you decided to arrive,” she says.

Lacey sucks in a breath like she can’t believe Raina is talking to me like that. I’m taken aback too.

“Who pissed in your coffee?” I ask.

“Look, I know everyone thinks you’re the shit around campus, but you don’t fool me. You’re only riding the image everyone created for you.”

I narrow my eyes. “I create my own image.”

“Sure, by scaring the shit out of half of them and making the rest of them think they have a chance at gaining your affection. I’ve heard about your antics, and I’m not impressed.”

I don’t know how to respond to that. She really doesn’t think I’m a god. She doesn’t think I’m doing her a favor by talking to her, and she doesn’t look like she wants to drop to her knees and suck my cock if I let her.

I’m not used to being treated this way.

“Speechless, huh?” she asks. “I know men like you. You rile everyone up, making them fear you, and you misjudge it for respect.”

I’m getting angry. Whoever she thinks she is, this isn’t working for me. I ball my hands into fists, but I’m stuck. The drugs pump me up until I feel like ripping someone’s head off, but it can’t be hers. She’s too pretty. And she’s a woman. I’ve reached all kinds of lows, but laying a hand on a woman isn’t my style, not in violence anyway.

“What are you going to do?” she asks, seeing my reaction. “You can’t beat me up because I’m a woman, and you don’t know what to do with someone who doesn’t want to fuck you.”

She knows exactly what I’m thinking, and that just pisses me off.

“I’d be careful if I were you,” I say.

“Or what?”

“I can make your life a living hell. Do you have any idea who I am?”

“You’re a little boy hiding behind a big name. I’m not scared of you, Stone. Whatever you think you can do to me, bring it.”

“Is that a challenge?” I ask.
