I shrug. “It might.”

Chaz shakes his head, but he’s grinning as he pulls off his skates.

He’s the closest thing I have to a friend. He’ll never get what shit I have to go through with my dad being the world’s number one piece of shit, and he frowns on the drugs sometimes. But he’s always keen to pull girls with me, and he drinks like a fish. We don’t have a whole lot in common, but we stick together because who the fuck else is going to be there for us?

“Are you going to the party?” Chaz asks.

“Yeah, why not? I don’t have anything better to do.”

“We’ll pick up a bunch of girls, and you can get whatever’s bugging you out of your system.”

“Who says something’s bugging me?” I ask.

Chaz gives me a pointed look. “You’reyou. If something’s not grating your tits, the sky might just fall.”

I laugh. He’s right; I’m always pissed off about something and ready to fuck someone up. He doesn’t have to know why; no one does. They just need to remember that I’m the kingpin, and if they don’t treat me right, I’m more than willing to teach them a lesson.

After we shower the sweat off our bodies and dress, we arrive at the party. It’s off-campus at one of the student houses not too far, and the music is already pumping. When we step inside, bodies pulse to the beat of the music, smoke hangs in the air, and everyone has a plastic cup of something vile in their hands.

“Let’s get a drink,” Chaz says and makes his way through the throng of students. I nod, but a couple of drinks isn’t going to cut it. I reach into my pocket and find a pink pill I’d been saving for just this occasion.

I don’t know what this shit is, but it’s enough to send me on a trip that makes all this shit bearable.

I find Chaz in the kitchen, and he shoves a cup into my hand. I swallow the pill already in my mouth with a swig of beer.

“To our win,” Chaz said, and he knocks his cup against mine before we both drink deeply.

It doesn’t take long for the pill to kick in. The world around me starts to swim, and faces turn into masks of color and shapes that don’t make sense. The beer adds a nice touch. High and tipsy is a hell of a combo.

The next thing I know, I’m dancing in the living room. I don’t remember getting here. The couches looks like they’re inflatable, and I want to poke one to find out if it’s real or if it’s all in my head.

When Chaz says something to me, I can’t hear him. He sounds like he’s talking a different language. When I frown, he points to a group of girls, and I get what he’s saying: time to play.

He disappears into the crowd, and I watch the girls for a while. They’re all dressed to the nines, waiting for someone to notice their non-verbal begging for sex. They’re all fucking hot. At least, I think they are. It’s hard to tell when they look a little like care bears, thanks to the high I’m on.

A few of them look familiar. I think I fucked them. I’ll have to have them naked and beneath me, or on hands and knees in front of me, to be sure.

I grin at my own little joke.

When I start toward them, I pause.

One of them Idoknow, and not because I fucked her. It’s because she’s full of shit. Since day one, she’s been a bitch to me. Usually, women want me. Badly. They fall over their feet when they see me, and they can’t get naked fast enough when they realize I’ll do them the honor of fucking them.

But this one seems to hate me, and that just pisses me off.

Who the fuck does she think she is?

She walks away, and I approach the girls. I actually know one of them by name. That’s saying something.

“Hey, Lace,” I said, running my finger down her bare arm. She flips her hair over her shoulder and flutters her eyelashes at me.

Why the fuck do girls do that? It just makes it look like there’s something in her eye. It doesn’t make me want to jump her bones. “You’re looking good tonight.”

“Thanks,” she says and blushes. “I saw you on the ice. You’re incredible.”

“Yeah,” I say. I’m not going to thank her for a fact. “So, who’s your friend?”

Lacey’s smile fades a little. She thought I wanted to fuckher. Not happening. I think I might have before, but I can’t remember.
