She laughed. “Oh, she’s fine. We played in the garden today and swam in the pool. Then I got ready and spent some time with her before Tasha took her up to her bedroom for the bedtime ritual. She told me to let you know tea is still on for tomorrow.”

“Ah, yes. Wouldn’t miss it for the world.”

She grinned at me, then looked down at the menu. “Wonder what’s good here…”

Soft jazz music was playing in the background. This place had earned two Michelin stars and although I’d never been here, I heard through the grapevine it was well-deserved.

“I was told the tasting menu is the way to go,” I said. “How do you feel about that?”

She shrugged becomingly. “Well, I’m willing to try anything once,” she said suggestively before taking a sip of the water the host had just poured for us.

Her skin veritably glowed, and she sounded and acted more confident than ever. My dick started pulsing and I pressed my hand on my lap to quiet it down like a damn dog. I was going to have a heart attack before this meal was over.

A waiter showed up and I ordered a bottle of their best champagne. When he left to see to our order, her eyes went wide as saucers.

“Everything is fine,” I lied. “Nothing to worry about.” I could have mentioned the fires, but she had enough going on already. I wasn’t sure she bought it, but it was the best I could do for now.

Her pink-painted lips glistened in the candlelight, and her perfect breasts peaked from between her plunging neckline, the end of the bow teasing the skin there. My mouth went dry. I had half a mind to lunge at her, hold her hands behind her back, and make her sit on my cock. The table was pretty private, but not private enough … Could I get away with it without us being arrested for public indecency?

The fact I was seriously considering this proved Marinka right: Iwasbatshit crazy.

When I thought I lost Marinka, I buried my darkness deep inside. Even when Sofia reached out, offering me my favorite brand of pleasures on a platter, I wasn’t able to say yes.

Marinka was my world.

But Sofia didn’t like being rejected. She must have carried that grudge for a long time. She was into kink, a talented dominatrix who knew what she wanted. At the time, she’d wanted me—one thing I couldn’t give her. What did she want now? I pushed the disconcerting thoughts aside. If I kept this up, Marinka would notice and force the truth out of me.

“So who are you dealing with right now? My father mentioned something about the Russians. I’d like to know more,” she asked, and I gave an inward curse.

Her father was sticking his nose where he wasn’t supposed to, but she’d probably asked. She wanted to know my business that she was now a part of.

“Well, it’s a bit more complicated than that. I’m trying to distance myself from them, but they are powerful. They held a lot of my assets and I don’t want another war like I had with Italians," I explained.

I’d die to protect you and Lilly…

“Who are they and how many are we talking about?”

Before I scrambled for an answer, the waitress showed up with the champagne. She opened the bottle and filled our flutes.

Marinka had a taste. “Goodness, this is excellent.” She had another taste, savoring it like I wanted to savor her. Right then, she brushed her foot over my calf under the table, her strappy high heels moving up and down my leg.

A suppressed groan came out as a grunt. “Only the best for my beautiful wife,” I said smoothly, grabbing her wrists when we were alone again. She looked down at my hand in surprise, probably because I was squeezing too tight. “I want to tie you up and use a toy on you, make you come over and over. Would that scare you?”

She stared at me for a moment, then hit me with a lopsided smile. “You can do whatever you want to me. I’m ready,” she purred.

Why was there a rule against going under restaurant tables and sucking cock?

“Hmm, anything? Are you sure about that? Are you willing to take that risk? Maybe you won’t like the dark Sebastian, just like the other day with the spanking…”

The waitress arrived to take our orders, and we went for the tasting menu.

She let out a breath, as if thinking about what she was going to say. “I’ve given a lot of thought to that. I’ve already met the unpleasant Sebastian. He punished me, yes, but the problem was he left me alone, without a word. I’m sure you could do better. Can’t you?”

I remembered that day so well. She came hard and then, I abandoned her. No kiss, no embrace, no gesture of affection. I liked that she communicated what she wanted, and expected no less. She offered a challenge every day. Her assertiveness and daring turned me upside down and inside out, and I wanted her to stay this way so I could punish her many, many times…

“So, why are there problems with the Russians?” Her voice pierced through my fantasies. “Is there anyone specific you don’t want to deal with, or is it all of them?”

I tensed, for the right answer wasn’t just falling on my lap. My past with Sofia was complicated, and that was before Russina was even in the picture. Marinka didn’t need to know about her. She was no longer relevant to me, but I wanted to be honest and transparent.
