Sebastian

The Russians hadn’t clearedthe last shipment and I was certain Sofia had something to do with it. My brothers were monitoring the situation with Italians. Something was brewing on that front, too. Gino was hard to pin down. I didn’t want him to know about Marinka, but I had to be prepared for anything.

Of course, it didn’t help that Marinka insisted to keep on living a normal life for I was becoming extremely concerned about her safety. She was going out with Lilly to the park and other places. Although Pedro was always nearby, watching them, anything could happen. The other day she went to the beach with her father and Tasha. I was too busy to join them, so that feeling of helplessness wracked me.

At some point, I had to tell my brothers the truth. This had gone on for far too long. Sparky was acting strange, but that wasn’t unusual for him. He maintained a rich social life and always surrounded himself with a multitude of beautiful women. He’d never settle for domestic bliss.

I decided to take Marinka to a fancy dinner to make up for my extended days at work. Neglecting her and Lilly was the hardest thing to do. I’d already promised Lilly I’d attend her princess tea party this weekend.

When I saw the dress at a designer store owned by a friend, it screamed Marinka’s name—the new her, who reminded me of a butterfly in flight. Elegant and flirty, dressy yet comfortable. Utterly feminine. It cost a small fortune, but all that mattered was that we’d have a chance to talk and be with each other. When I’d see her in it, I’d think of nothing but taking it back off.

I bought it and reserved a table in one of the best restaurants in the city. The manager always kept a private table for me, especially when I dangled a few Benjamins in his face.

As I navigated the traffic toward West Walnut Street, I called Pedro. “Is everything ready?” I asked.

“Yes, sir. We should be there in about twenty minutes,” Pedro assured me.

It was a beautiful evening, the streets teeming with people out and about on a Friday night. So far, everything was going as planned, but I wanted to do more. I was even considering taking her back to France, to the small church on top of a hill where we got married. Right now though wasn’t the right time. Milo needed me in the club and the situation required my constant attention. Something was coming down the pipe and I didn’t want my people to be caught unawares.

I arrived at the restaurant and parked the car. Taking a breather before exiting, I hoped this evening would be a turning point for me and Marinka. Nothing could go wrong tonight—she’d see how much I cared for her, even though sometimes I found it hard to express.

Marinka arrived just in time. Pedro’s car pulled up and I waited for her to alight when he opened the door for her.

“Hello, Sebastian,” she said when I helped her get out of the car.

The sight of her took my breath away. She looked like a vision and I couldn’t believe she was mine. The skirt flirted with her legs, slightly sheer from mid-thigh, the colors complementing the blue of her eyes and the blond in her hair. Her shoulders exposed, the deep V neckline below the playful feminine bow at the side of her neck, the curve of her upper back bare and waiting for me to caress. I wish she realized how beautiful she was.

“Hello, my queen. That dress looks amazing on you.”

When we entered the establishment, people stared at us but this time, I didn’t even care. She was my wife and walked on my arm, so everyone knew who she belonged to. A woman that exquisite couldn’t not attract attention.

“You know I won’t be able to take my eyes off you tonight.”

She blushed, and I liked when she went all shy on me. I loved this woman and I had to reveal how I felt even if she didn’t fucking remember me, or us together.

“Thank you for the dress,” she said with a smile. “I love it, King. Can’t believe you guessed the size.”

Damn, did she just call me baby? The sound of that endearment rolling from her lips had me salivating for her. This was going to be a long evening, and we hadn’t even started yet.

“Fuck, Marinka. Don’t say things that will make me carry you off to the car and take you there.”

“I would love to ride you wearing this dress. The skirt is easy to hitch up,” she whispered, and then giggled like a silly girl.

She was making it harder and harder for me not to turn into a beast. Was this what she wanted? More public shenanigans? “Come on, walk in front of me so I can take a look at your ass, and just stop talking for a second. I can’t fuck you yet. You’re still not fully recovered.”

“No, I am fine. My ribs are not hurting me anymore. I can move freely now,” she cooed in a maddeningly sensual way.

Still, I’d promised myself I would be on my best behavior.

“Let’s have dinner now,” I said.

The host led us to the table and brought us the menus, then recited the specials of the day. “Your welcome drink will be out shortly. It’s a refreshing beverage made with vermouth, port, elderflower tonic, and a few other ingredients. You will love it.”

The man had a welcoming attitude that put everyone at ease. Although this place was as fancy as they come, he wasn’t overbearing in his demeanor, and the ambiance itself was inviting.

When he left, Marinka sighed. “This place is amazing. I appreciate you doing this.” She looked around in awe. We were sitting at the back, at a cozy table for two in a private alcove.

“Of course. As I said, you’re my queen. I’d do anything for you.” I looked into her eyes, letting my words sink in, then added. “So how’s Princess Lilly doing?”
