Sea god, they were hot.

Out of all three of the mermen, Fin had the largest package. It kind of seemed appropriate, given he was the leader and thus, supposedly, the more virile of the bunch. Nemo was next, but I wasn’t surprised, given his overall size. Then Gill. I wondered what they would all feel like inside my sea pearl.

Gill caught me admiring his privates, and he squeezed them. “You know what they say about a long fin.” The smile and wink he gave me nearly knocked me over.

Damn it. He was just as bad as Blade. Now I saw why they were friends. But there was something about Gill that drew me to him.

Nemo cracked up and thumped Gill on the back.

Fin was a bit more respectful. “Not in front of the princess.”

“What?” Gill held his arms out wide. “She was checking me out.”

Flames curled over my body. That would teach me. Next time, I should practice the art of subtlety.

Luckily, the beasts crowding around us and squashing Fin and me, distracted me from my mortification.

One of the animals clopped into the water and nudged Nemo.

“I don’t have any food.” He laughed, giving the beast a pat, and it nibbled his wrist.

With a snort, the animal turned around, knocked him over, and walked away.

“Hey!” Nemo cried.

Gill laughed and said, “Don’t think she’s that into you, Nemes.”

“All the mergals love me,” Nemo bragged.

He grabbed Gill in a headlock, and the two began to play-wrestle, tossing each other into the water, climbing on each other’s backs, and rolling around.

The more I witnessed of Gill’s fun side, the more I grew to like him, despite his misgivings for me.

Poseidon! Was it wrong of me to be attracted to all three of them? Normally, I didn’t crush on guys for long. My embarrassing antics usually chased them away before things could get serious.

I didn’t get to finish my thoughts because a beast bumped me in the back, and I stumbled forward.

Fin defended me, pushing the beasts’ noses away. “Time to go, soldiers,” he ordered.

Nemo and Gill ceased their games, rinsed off the mud, and collected their belongings.

Fin’s forehead pinched as he gathered my clothing. “Sorry, Princess,” he said, handing me the muddy clothes, which the beasts had trod all over.

I didn’t mind. All the mermen’s garments were the same. “Thank you.”

We all tried to dress in our dirty clothes, but the beasts mooed at us and prodded us, and we kept tripping. I was totally enjoying the change in pace. Things at the palace never got this exciting.

A few of the animals lifted their skinny tails and left sticky greenish-brown messes before they wandered away.

Nemo cupped his nose.“Oh, that’s just rotten.” Those were the first negative words to come out of his mouth.

“Even worse than an orca!” Fin’s gray pallor turned green.

“Let’s get out of here,” said Gill, wrestling an animal for his pants as it chewed them.

Nemo hopped after another to get his boot back.

Arms bundled with clothes and shoes, we all took off into the field, laughing our heads off.Sea god. We must have looked a sight—four naked merfolk, dressing on the run, pursued by a bunch of hungry, moaning beasts. But I loved adventures like this one. They always stood out in my mind. And I knew I’d never forget this day…not ever.
