“You’re right. I’m just working through everything in my mind. But the one thing I’m sure of, always, is you and me. Somehow, in all the crazy, we fell in love with each other.”

“I think I might have loved you a little bit before you stopped thinking I was an asshole.”

“I suppose it’s a good thing you love me, because now when you catch me speeding you’ll let me off with a warning.”

He tickled her ribs. “I better not catch you speeding. You’re with a cop now. You need to obey the law, so people won’t think I’m giving you special treatment.”

“But you are partial to me.” She gave him a sexy smile and trailed her finger along his scruffy jaw.

He kissed her softly. “I love you. And if you’re speeding, you’re getting a ticket, so that you’ll know I mean it when I say I don’t like you speeding because I don’t want anything to happen to you.” He kissed her long and deep to keep her from arguing.

And right when things were getting hot and he had his hand between her thighs again, Lana’s soft cries came over the baby monitor.

He broke the kiss and stared down at the beautiful woman he was grateful to have in his bed and his life. “I’ll get her. You take a shower. We don’t want to be late for Pancake Tuesday.”

“Is that today?”

It didn’t surprise him that she’d lost track of the days after everything they’d been through and the time they stole at home together the last few days.

“It’s breakfast, then back to work for me. And the Harmons are coming by this afternoon to drop off all of Angela and Lana’s things from Rad’s place.”

Cyn frowned.

“If you want me to be here when they come, I can use my lunch break and swing by.”

Cyn shook her head. “No. I’m sure it will be fine. Difficult, but I can handle it.” Cyn had proven she could handle just about anything.

“If you need me, all you have to do is call or text me and I’ll be here.”

“I know.”

Lana’s cries increased.

“She’s hungry. Go get her.” Cyn waved her hands to shoo him out of bed.

He stood up on the side across from her and watched her eyes roam over his naked body. “Having second thoughts about sending me upstairs?”

“I’m having wicked thoughts about you, Wilde.”

“You can have your wicked way with me again later.”

“Promise?”

“You make me want to beg for it.” If Lana wasn’t crying upstairs, he’d be diving back into bed with her.

“I’m yours, Hunt. Anytime. Anywhere. Always.”

“I feel the same way, sweetheart. But our girl upstairs is demanding my attention.”

Cyn gave him a mock frown. “Dumped for another pretty girl.”

“Never.” He pulled on his sweatpants and T-shirt, catching the disappointed look in Cyn’s eyes when he covered up. He caught her in his arms when she slipped out of bed to head into the bathroom and kissed hersoftly. “You’ll always come first, Cyn, even if Lana needs me, too.”

“I don’t mind sharing you with her.” She smiled, then kissed him. “Hurry up. That girl is starving.”

He reluctantly let go of naked Cyn and rushed to the kitchen to make the bottle before he went upstairs to get the baby. He heard the shower go on and Lana fussing upstairs and saw the dirty dishes from dinner in the sink and the blanket he and Cyn lay under on the couch last night on the floor by the coffee table. Cyn’s coat hung on the rack by the front door along with her purse. She’d left a bag of double chocolate cookies on the breakfast bar.

He didn’t mind the mess or having her here at all. In fact, the place finally felt like a real home where a family lived.
