I jerked my head up to see if he was just saying that as part of the joke or he meant it. When I looked into his eyes, I saw that they were stormier than the weather last night. He was definitely not joking.

“How you feel?”

“Yeah.” He nodded and leaned down so his face was next to mine. His lips brushed against my ear as he whispered, “He also wants to know what color panties you’re wearing under that dress.”

My eyes shut as a tremor ran down my body and a flush crept up my cheeks. But they popped back open when I felt an arm wrap around my shoulder. When they did I saw that Jimmy was crashing our dance. His arms were slung around both of us. The intrusion was jarring and I realized that for a moment I’d totally forgotten that I was at a wedding surrounded by people. My world had narrowed to a pinpoint where all I could see was Cash and me.

“Hey guys, I don’t know if you got me a wedding present or not, but if you didn’t, hell even if you did, I’m gonna ask you for one more. As much as I am Team Cashenne I’m going to need to ask you both to pretend the other doesn’t exist for the rest of my reception. Billy the Bull is over there thrashing his head around and pawing the dirt and you two are the red flag he’s about to charge.”

Cash and I both looked over to where Jimmy had indicated with his head jerk and sure enough Billy looked furious. He wasn’t looking at us but he was obviously upset.

As if we’d choreographed it, Cash and I both stepped back and apologized.

“Sorry, Jimmy.”

“Sorry man, I wasn’t thinking.”

“No worries.” My younger brother turned so his back was facing Billy and hid his fingers which were both in the peace sign together making the gesture for the word hashtag while he said, “Team Cashenne for life.”

Cash and I walked off the dance floor in separate directions and spent the rest of the night staying far away from each other. It was hard to keep my distance, but I did have the things he’d said about me as a consolation prize.

He said that he thought I’d make an incredible mom and wife. And that I was sweet, kind, funny, hot, and sexy. He also said he wondered what I was wearing under my dress. The last one gave me an idea. I may not be able to go anywhere near Cash, but that didn’t mean I couldn’t communicate with him.

I was biting my lip as I walked into the bathroom, went into the first stall, shut the door, and locked it. I lifted my dress and took a picture of my white lace panties. My hands were shaking as I attached the photo and typed out #teamcashenne. When I pressed send a thrill raced down my spine.

It was the closest thing to sexting I’d ever done, and I had to admit, I was a fan. I’d never done anything resembling scandalous before, and I was beginning to see the appeal. It was exciting.

Now, I just had to wait for Cash to respond.
