“Norfolk,” she breathed. “The sea. I have been clinging to the thought of it all these weeks, not really daring to believe it possible…”
“Believe it,” he said slowly. “It is happening. We are almost away. We can leave London and all its sordid scandals behind. We can finally breathe again.”
Suddenly, she laughed, her head tilting back. “Oh, it is joyous tidings!”
He pulled her to him. “I simply cannot wait to have you again,” he whispered, nuzzling her neck. “It seems like an eternity.”
He felt the frisson of desire shoot through her body. The need that matched his own. He had been too injured in the past weeks to make love to her the way he wanted. But he was ready now. More than ready.
His heart surged with joy. Itwasfinally over. They could leave London behind and start their life exactly the way they wanted.
