A phone buzzed.

His phone. He grimaced. “Work. Can I have a second?”

“Sure, take as long as you need.” He left, and I hit the ladies’ room before returning for the end of the play with no idea why there was so much laughter. I sipped my cold coffee and thought: His place or mine?

The date was going that well. He had the hots for me, that much was clear. I was ready to drop my panties for him. I could see this ending in bed.

He returned as people began rising from their seats, preparing to leave.

“Sorry. I didn’t mean for that to take so long.”

“It’s fine.”

He helped me from my seat, standing closer than needed, staring down at me. “Did you want to go somewhere else? A coffee shop, perhaps? I know a place that does milkshakes.”

As he sought reasons to extend the date, I said, “I’ve got coffee at my place.”

His lips curved. “That sounds fantastic.”

His fingers wrapped around mine as we headed out, following the jostling stream of other guests. When someone bumped me in passing, he drew me close to his body and tucked us out of the way into an alley.

“Let’s wait for the crush to die down.” He stared down at me, and his knuckles brushed my cheek.

Such a gentleman. I dragged his head down. “I know what we can do while we wait.”

He only hesitated a fraction of a second before meeting my kiss with pure, fiery passion.

His fingers laced behind my head, threading into my hair. My back pressed against the building wall. My leg straddled the outside of his, his hard thigh between mine where I wantonly rode it.

If we kept this up, I’d come. In an alley. I whispered, “We should go back to my place.”

Brayden drove fast, his hand on my leg, my dress hem pushed up so he palmed flesh. I pulsed wetly and wished he’d move it up a little higher.

The whole ride to my place acted as foreplay. I was ready to pounce by the time he pulled into my driveway.

The moment Brayden helped me out of the car, he had me pushed against it, kissing me, groping me. We might have ended up doing it right there, only his phone pinged.

He groaned. “Not now.”

“Ignore it,” I whispered, biting his lower lip.

It dinged again, and he sighed. “I’d better check on that.” A single glance at the screen turned his smoldering expression into a grimace. “I’m afraid I need to beg a raincheck. Work needs me.”

“Can you be a few minutes late?” I purred.

He looked pained as my hand slid up his thigh. “I would like nothing more than to finish what we started, but I also won’t rush our first time. Can I come by to see you tomorrow?” He cupped my ass and growled the request against my lips.

“You’d better, or I’ll be taking care of what you started myself.” I still might once he left.

“That’s just plain cruel.” He kissed me, and I felt his reluctance as he pulled away. “Tomorrow. I’ll bring dinner so we don’t have to go anywhere.”

“Sounds good.” A smiling and horny me entered the house. The date had gone better than expected. Even my lug of a dog peeing on my foot in happiness that I’d survived the dark and returned home couldn’t ruin it.

I went to bed thinking of my date.

And dreamed of another man.
