“No, it's not a problem. I just thought it might be a mistake since I thought she was medium level management like I was.” Zaya pointed out.

“Levels can be easily moved up or down. We put people wherever we feel they will do best.” The look on Carler’s face was quite unpleasant, and a threat was implied.

“I apologize.” Zaya said but she really didn't look like she felt sorry about it.

“Why don't we gather over here, that’s for anyone in the park’s project.” Ranger directed.

Toni thought Zaya now had one strike against her and hadn't been smart enough to shut up when she saw that she was annoying Carler. She would have done better to continue her previous tactics in which she simply undermined those she felt she was competing with. But Zaya had decided to change tactics and it had not worked well for her.

That girl was hard to like, and the more time Toni spent with her the easier it was to see why no one seemed to like her. Carler had now seen what was probably the first sign of a very bad personality. It was important in a position where you worked with teams that you could get along with people. Zaya was so focused on trying to move up, her major concern seemed to be running over anyone she thought was in her way. Right now, it was Toni. That had been more than obvious to anyone at that meeting.

For now, Ranger had directed everyone to meet in a small meeting room next to the conference room they were in. At some point, she was going to have to let him know that they were both in charge, but for now she was just glad he had gotten things going. There were just enough seats that everyone could sit. Ranger had already grabbed the head of the table and she sat to his right. It was no surprise that Zaya was on their team and that was probably why she had objected to Toni’s position as one of the leads.

Zaya didn't want to work for anyone that she didn't consider her equal or superior. Ranger was keeping the closest eye on her and she probably thought that was a good thing. Maybe she thought he admired her for speaking up, but he didn't. He must think she was going to cause more trouble later and if she did who knew what they would do with her.

“Let's get things started now.” Ranger suggested.

“Where do you want to start?” Zaya asked with a flirtatious smile.

“Since we have multiple locations, we need to figure out what the first thing we need to do at all the locations is. I suggest we start by having fences put in.”

“I agree.” Toni mentioned. “Should we assign different locations to other teams so that we have a couple places ready once the first one is complete?”

“I agree. Our resources should be able to manage fencing in 3 parks right now. That will still leave an issue because it will take a long time to get a large park like this fenced in. These will need to be privacy fences because of some of the requirements. While we are doing that, we need to start acquiring those animals that are native to this area that had been depleted due to illegal hunting. I believe that will take longer than building fence because those animals are in low numbers everywhere and we will have to gather a group of specialists to breed them.” Ranger explained.

“Why do we need specialists for a job like that? Can't you just throw pairs together and let nature take its course?” Zaya asked.

“It is always best to at the least consult a specialist to find out what needs to be considered before you reject hiring one.” Toni explained.

“That is a valuable lesson to learn when you are dealing in an area you know little about.” Ranger agreed. “Drawing conclusions and making poor decisions has caused many companies on Earth to go bankrupt.”

Now that a few things were decided, they decided to go ahead and initiate some of their decisions. A couple teams were set-up, one was to get the fences put in, another was set up to research and put in a suggestion to get a specialist chosen for the breeding program, and the third would begin to go to some of the locations and see what else they might do while the fences and the breeding program were started.

Toni had to admit that everything seemed very exciting. She and Ranger and a couple others were going to be checking out all of the parks and see what needed done. As the projects got going one by one someone would be hired to take charge of that park to ensure that no one caused any damage and that everything was on track.

Maybe the first manager should be chosen now since the first park would have the most work done. These parks would begin to make money as they were completed. They had decided to fast forward the progress on that park that was closest to the resort they were currently on. She could imagine all kinds of problems, but hopefully she was worrying needlessly.

Zaya was another worry. She’d proven that she was hateful and held a grudge. That was a problem they did not need that she seemed to be stuck with. Her first thought was to discuss it with Ranger, but she wasn't sure how he would feel about that. Her next thought was to assign her to a partner that she felt she could trust. Most of those in her group she felt were trustworthy. The only one that really bothered her was Zaya.

If she did this Ranger would have to be consulted. She wasn't sure how he would feel about it. It wasn't that she thought he had any special feelings for Zaya but since he didn't know her very well, he might feel it was unnecessary. He might also feel that she was jealous or something and she didn't want him to think that she was. Toni just didn't want the project sabotaged by someone that was jealous.

The group worked a little while and got a few things accomplished and it was lunchtime and Ranger dismissed everyone so they could go eat lunch. He escorted her to one of the nicer restaurants where they were able to sit and talk about things. “When we are done with lunch, I think we should go to the closest park and begin to get a look at things. I'm sure there will be a lot of work to do, and we need to start as soon as possible. The preplanning calls for that part to be done not only first but as quickly as possible.”

“I was not aware that any preplanning had been done. Is there a folder that explains what those determinations were?” Toni asked.

“There is. But I would like you to look at the park first and give me your opinions before we look at that. When we come back at the end of the day, I will give you the folder to look at and then tomorrow morning we can discuss any differences between the way the folder has suggested we continue and the way you believed we should. We know little about how to run a park. I have never been to one before so you may know more than I do. There are some wild areas that I have been to but those are not ones that are intended for people to safely go.”

“What kind of animals will we be dealing with here?”

“There are so many. Elephants, lions, rhinos, zebras, and more. We'll need to go by a list, and we will be concentrating on those animals that are endangered and making sure they get protected. I'm sure that will be dividing up the list and putting an equal number of predators with other animals. They will be protected once they become part of the park. Because the animals are so numerous, we will need a specialist just to determine what animals each park would be best suited for. This will be an extremely complex project. There will be some parks that have rivers and some that are deserts, but we can handle this. I believe this project will be absolutely incredible.” Ranger explained.

“I can't wait to get started. I've not really had the opportunity to be around any exotic animals. Hopefully we'll have an opportunity to see some of these animals we’re going to try to protect. Will we have wildlife rangers on each park?”

“We will, but we will also have some armed guards that will keep hunters out. There will be areas that the local tribes will be in charge of, and they will be allowed to hunt because that is the way of life for them.”

“While that sounds fair, it also sounds complicated.” Toni observed.

“We'll just have to find a way to simplify it. Are you finished with your meal now?”
