“I can hardly wait to learn all these things.” Toni replied.

“We will be to our camping spot soon. At that point one of us needs to scout the area and the other needs to prepare the shuttle for sleeping. We will also need to prepare our meal or have one sent here.”

“What does scanning require?”

“If we went at night, the two of us would fly over the area around us for a good distance to ensure that everything is as it should be and only those that should be here are. Since this is daytime, scouting requires walking in human form and ensuring that as far as the eye can see, there are no enemies. If you spot anything dangerous, then you turn into your dragon form for the protection it will give you. Once you have ensured that the area is safe, you would come back so that we can share our meal.” Ranger explained.

“And if I stay here what does preparing require.”

“If you stayed behind you would pull out the seats in a way that make the bed and you would find the meal that you wish us to share and make it. Neither job is difficult although it may be more difficult for you since you have not done it before. That is why I am allowing you to choose what you wish to do.”

“How sweet. I've really no clue how to do either.”

“That's alright sweetheart. Why don't I go scout while you start getting things ready and if you cannot find some things or don’t know how to do some things, I will help you finish setting up?”

It sounded like a reasonable solution so why did she think that is what he wanted all along? What choice did she have? She agreed and he left immediately. Now she looked at the shuttle seats in back. Toni had never noticed the array of buttons lining the side of the bottom of the seats. Oh joy! This wasn't going to be easy at all regardless of what Ranger said. Turning the seats into a bed was very frustrating and took a while but she was proud when she finally managed to get it complete.

Ranger still hadn't made it back and she was getting nervous. She couldn't imagine anything that could keep him busy for this long that was good. Could the rogues have attacked him? What would she do if they had? Toni had little training in this kind of stuff only basic self-defense which wouldn't help her much. Deciding to go ahead and get the meal ready, she dug through the cabinets until she found what she needed and set it out on the table. It was ready to dump onto the plates and heat up according to the instructions.

Now she weaponed up, made sure she had on the proper equipment including a bulletproof vest and she decided to search for her mate and see if anything was going on out there. The main weapon was a dart gun because if anyone was out there, they would need to be questioned. Toni wished she had undergone some training in stealth and fighting. The issue was their project had needed her and she put it off until afterwards. It was needed now but she would have to wing it.

Ready or not, it was time to go. She looked through the cameras at the surrounding area to make sure she just didn't walk into the enemy's hands. There was nothing she could see to worry about at this point. Toni made an effort to be as quiet as possible. That probably wouldn't help since Dragons had superior hearing, vision, and an amazing sense of smell. Smell? Hers wasn't so good, it was time to go back in the shuttle and find something.

There was a cleaner under the sink with not the nicest smell. She carried it outside and as soon as she got away from the shuttle a little bit, she sprinkled some around. She slipped through a small, wooded area and then found another wide open space so she sat down the chemical and changed to her dragon. She lifted the bottle and went up in the air and then began to spread it in the wind where it would carry it all over the park.

Toni had been careful, and the chemical was not noxious, and the terrible smell would only last a few hours before breaking down. If this was an attack a few hours would be all it took to find out who would come out victorious. The sad part was the chemical would limit those on her side as well as theirs. She was the only one that would truly benefit because her sense of smell hadn't adjusted that well yet and they wouldn't see her coming. Who knew how they would explain the terrible smell, but she doubted they would see it as covering up while she slipped up on them.

It was important for her to remember that the chemical would not limit their vision or their hearing. Her flight had been low in the hopes that no one would see her and now she landed near where she had taken off and change back to human. It still amazed her that she could shift and when she changed back everything would be the same as it had been before. That didn't stop her from checking all her clothing and her weapons to be sure they were still intact. In time she thought she might trust it but for now it was a small thing to do to feel more secure.

Toni slipped through the woods hoping to catch sight of something to alert her either to where Ranger was or where the rogues might be. There was a large clearing on the other side of the woods and the sound of voices came from there. The rogues weren't being quiet because they had caught Ranger and the other two dragons that they were paired with. she couldn't even imagine how they had managed that since all three were strong fighters and well trained in surveillance.

“I heard Darden was leading the attack on the shuttle where the queen was left.” Rogue one said.

“He's going to drag that bitch back here and we'll all get a turn.” Rogue two said.

“Yeah, we'll get a turn when he's through with her.” Rogue three offered.

“I hear she's a pretty delicate little thing. I hope she survives his attention.” Rogue four said.

Some of them laughed but rogue three looked unhappy. Maybe he was upset that he might get cheated out of his turn.

“Isn't it your turn to scout the area?” Rogue one said as he turned to rogue three.

“There's no one to find so why bother?” Rogue three answered.””

“Maybe you can find out where that nasty smell is coming from? It's worse than a dead zeta lizard. ”If you find it you can throw some dirt on it.” Rogue one instructed. Rogue three seemed to hesitate. “That wasn't a suggestion. Get on your way, now.”

Rogue three scowled and then headed in her direction. she hurried away and waited a little bit further in the distance so the others wouldn't see anything that might happen. Her heartbeat like crazy. Could she handle this? What choice did she have? At least the guy was so busy muttering to himself and being unhappy that he wasn't looking around or paying the slightest attention to what was going on. As he got further and further away from camp, she followed and when she felt like he was far enough away, she used her dart gun on him.

He fell immediately. While she had been told that the darts would knock them out for 12 hours she had also been told that occasionally there were exceptions. She pulled out something to slap over his mouth that would prevent any noise from coming out. Then she pulled out some restraints and followed the instructions she had been given as she pressed a button, and this would alert the resort that a prisoner had been secured. Then she searched on and found another button that would ensure that he would be unable to leave the spot he was at. The explanation had been technical but basically it had meant that it put 1000 pounds of weight on the restraints and that even a dragon would not be able to move that easily. In human form, he had no hope.

Now she moved back to the camp where she saw the other three still there. As far as she could tell they were the only ones that had been left behind. One of them was asleep and the other two were talking telling stories of glory days. She didn't believe any of their stories. She circled around the camp and on the other side she saw Ranger and their other partners. Only Landra looked like she'd been in a fight. Toni suspected that had occurred when they had tried to get too friendly with her. They needed to be freed but she had no idea how to remove the restraints they were wearing. She could only remove those that she had just put on their prisoner.

As soon as she moved to Ranger, she would no longer be able to see the enemy. Had she had more confidence, she would have simply darted the enemies and then came to free her people. There were just too many doubts that she would be able to do that successfully. She circled around a little bit further and then hurried to go back and see what the enemies were doing. They hadn't moved. Now she circled around further and then slipped in and shook Ranger. It was obvious that he had been darted. He didn't react and now she knew that he would be no help at all.

“Psst. Over here. They didn't dart me. They hope to come back and have some fun and they say they like a fighter. The first one who tried it didn’t, but he did get in a couple hits. Not like the hits I got in.” It was Landra.

“How do I get you out of these?”
