"The rest of us can start walking. We'll make it a few kilometres before you get back." He pushed his glasses back up his nose.

"Wouldn't it be better to get off the road?" Viva said. "I mean, that one asshole who rode away might come back. With friends."

"Yes, I don't want to meet an asshole or friends of assholes," I agreed. "We'll make our way off the road." To Knox, I added, "You know what the signal is when you return."

Knox nodded and started to strip.

Viva watched, with her face turned half away, like she pretended not to see. The way her eyebrows twitched when Knox slipped off his boxers, I suspected she liked what she saw.

If she liked that, she might really like my cock. I've never been shy about admitting I have a sizable length and girth. All the better for making her feel good. If she would ever let me.

Shit, all this thinking was making me hard again.

I shoved the thoughts aside and took Knox's neat pile of clothes when he handed it to me.

"I'll find a place to stash all of this," I said. No offence to Knox, but I wasn't carrying his clothes all the way back for him. Or his heavy boots.

Knox gave me an unreadable look, then flicked his eyes toward Viva. He seemed to silently suggest I take care of her. I had every intention of doing just that.

I responded with a minute nod.

Knox shifted into his wolf form; slightly smaller and lighter than mine, but impressive nonetheless.

I would never tire of how impressive we wolf shifters looked. Magnificent heads, sharp teeth, long, lithe legs, smooth, erect tails. We were a sight to behold, that was certain.

Greg had shifted already, and now stepped to Knox's side.

With a toss of heads, they loped away down the road like they were hunting some great prey.

"How long will it take for them to get back?" Viva asked.

"A couple of days," I said regretfully. They would have to stop and rest, and hunt along the way. "Unless they meet a car or truck along the way."

A slow smile crossed her face.

"What?" I asked.

"I was just thinking that if two naked guys appeared on a road in the outside world, they'd probably be arrested," she said. "I suppose this is normal for the Vault."

"I wouldn't say it's normal," I said, barely holding back a smile. "But more so than out there. Shifters are still modest, to some extent." Some were anyway. I wasn't bothered by my nudity, but the idea of being naked around Viva had a whole other meaning.

Specifically, I wasn't sure I could contain an erection if I had to.

"Yeah, witches are all prudes," she said, her expression dark, lips twisted with distaste. "I'm surprised they don't faint if someone shows an ankle."

"Are they really that bad?" Slade said. The question seemed genuine. It probably was. The Watcher should have been called The Learner. Or the Geek. From what I knew of the outside world, he would be a grad student or a gamer. Or both. Probably living in his parent's basement, eating cold pizza for breakfast.

Now look where he was instead. Stuck on a road in the middle of nowhere with me and a hemithea. It could be worse.

I waited.

When it didn't get worse immediately, I started toward some bushes a few metres from the road.

"We'll stick to these as much as we can," I said. I frowned. I'd feel better if they were thicker, but it was better than nothing.

"They really are," Viva said, replying to Slade's question from a couple of minutes ago. "Prudes, I mean. And then some."

They fell into chatter which I only half listened to, until Slade asked,"Is it true that some witches could blend into their surroundings, like a chameleon?"
