And now we were resting in the bath and finally talking about our day. It had floored me to see her eyes light up as she told me about her day with the designer and my mom. She was passionate and excited about the wedding now that it was only a few days away and I loved to hear her tell me all about it all.

“Tell me why you looked so rumpled when you got home.” She insisted as she kissed my bicep where her cheek leaned against it. My arm was draped over her chest with my hand resting on her stomach and I was tracing circles of the skin that would hopefully soon tighten as her belly grew with our babies inside of her.

“I told you, I missed you.” I kissed her temple.

“There’s more to it than just that.” She said firmly and I smiled against her hair.

“How do you know that?”

“Because I know you.” She said instantly, so sure of herself.

I tightened my hold on her and breathed her in before diving into the hell my day had been.

“I got a call from the chief editor of a tabloid magazine today. Veronica sold them the story about the other night at the hotel.”

She stiffened in my arms slightly before leaning further into me. “What did her story have to say?”

“Everything that she spun to you at the meeting with Potter.” She’d finally told me about Veronica’s visit to Potter’s building after we were on the jet home last night and while I was mad that Veronica had lied to her and caused a scene; I was proud of Cora for stepping in and handling it like a boss.

“That you fucked her.” She bit out.

“Yes. And then assaulted her and fired her publicly to cover for it.” I growled.

“She’s such a cunt.” She swore and I chuckled lightly behind her at her choice of swear word.

“Yes, yes she is.” I agreed. “They agreed to add the security footage of her coming onto me with the testimonies of the multiple people there that night that heard what she’d said to me to debunk her story before she could spin it her way, in exchange for an exclusive about our wedding.”

She cringed in my arms, “I hate that we have to give them an exclusive into our personal moment just so they’ll tell the truth to the world.”

“I know.” I said, rubbing my hand across her stomach. “That’s just part of my world though. My PR team also released a statement today about you and I getting married this weekend.”

She turned in my arms and looked at me with fear in her eyes. “Everyone knows that we’re together now. And getting married in three days?”

“Yes. We were photographed leaving Hawthorn Tower together Friday and it was a really good photo, so we used it for the article.”

“Wow. I’ve been locked away in here all day, I had no idea the news was out there already.” She thought on it for a moment, “Has there been any… communication from my family about it?”

I tensed. I’d known what her question would be before she asked it and had tried to steel my reaction to it but there was somethings I couldn’t control. And my growing hate for her parents and brother was one of them.

“Yes, your family released a statement this afternoon in response.”

She was quiet and then shook her head. “They gained from it didn’t they?” She accused.

I kissed her temple again and turned her head, so she was relaxed into me again before I answered her. “They said that they were overjoyed about our families joining together finally after all these years and that they look forward to our happiness for years to come.”

“Oh come on.” She snapped and huffed in indignation.

“I know baby. Don’t worry because we’ll be bringing to light the truth about their involvement in our wedding exclusive piece.”

“Ugh,” She cringed. “I hate them.”

“Me too Angel. Veronica’s story will air tomorrow morning.” I said and I held her as she processed everything. Because there was nothing else I could do in that moment. I couldn’t fix this for her right this second, and I was doing everything else I could in this moment to make it better for her, so I just had to hold her and support her this way. “Can I ask you a question?” I asked.

She laughed lightly and nodded her head.

“When will we know if you got pregnant or not this cycle?”

She snorted and laughed again, “That was not the question I was expecting from you, I won’t lie.”
