It wasn’t that long ago that I was single, having a nightmare getting to grips with dating apps, wondering if I’d ever find a decent guy. And now here I was, loved up with a baby. How times change.

I’d never really been that bothered about getting married before. Lorenzo often referred to me as his wife and I already felt like we were fully committed to each other, so we didn’t really need a ceremony or a piece of paper to confirm that. But, I’ll admit, if hedidask me, to quote a Holly-ism, I wouldtotallysay yes. I’d never loved a man so much in my life.

Roxy and Geli kicked their legs up in the air and let out a loud cackle.

‘So funny!’ said Bella. ‘They’re from two different countries, they only met for the first time a few hours ago, but they’re getting on like a house on fire!’

‘Yeah! And they both have the same dirty laugh!’

Just watching them made me smile. Beyoncé she was not, but Roxy was enjoying herself. No wonderStrictly Come Dancingwas her favourite TV show. She was really going for it, like she was actually auditioning to be a backup dancer. Even Geli was struggling to keep up with Roxy’s enthusiastic hip swinging and hand swaying. Everyone else on the dance floor seemed to find her particular version of the routine entertaining too.

A crowd started to gather around Roxy, eager to see what dazzling moves she’d do next. The DJ switched to ‘Kiss’ and Roxy went wild. She snatched a drink from one of the guys standing beside her, downed it in one and then started slipping and sliding around the dance floor like she was doing the moonwalk. Maybe she thought she was listening to Michael Jackson rather than Prince.

As the song reached the chorus, Roxy grew more excited.

‘Woo-hoo! Here we go, Italian people!’ she shouted. ‘How’sthisfor a party trick?’

Suddenly Roxy dropped down on the floor into the splits.

Whoa.

Impressive.

How an earth did she manage that? Rather her than me. After having Leo and with everything that had gone ondown there, I’d be too worried about splitting more than my legs if I even attempted it.

Lucky Roxy’s skirt was flared rather than fitted, otherwise it would have ripped. It was currently bunched up around her waist. Thank goodness she was wearing tights and dark-coloured knickers to preserve her modesty. Although I doubt she’d even given that a second thought. She was having too much fun.

Roxy threw her hands up in the air triumphantly like she’d just been given a gold medal at the Olympics.

The crowd clapped and cheered and she lapped up the adoration. It clearly was an achievement. I hadn’t been that flexible since I did gymnastics at primary school. I’m sure her trips to the gym, not to mention her frequent bedroom antics, had helped…Good for her.

Even if Icouldstretch my legs out enough to do the splits, I’d probably have to stay rooted to the floor indefinitely. Getting down was one thing, but getting up again was another.

Uh-oh…

Houston, we have a problem.

Seemed like Roxy wasn’t as flexible as I’d hoped.

She put her hands on the floor, tried to steady her body, then launch herself up again, but she couldn’t move. She was stuck…

Roxy tried again, but toppled over onto her side, legs still akimbo.

Geli grabbed one of her arms and Bella and I rushed over to take the other.

‘Come on, Rox,’ said Bella. ‘After three, let’s lift her up. One, two, three…’

We hoisted Roxy up in the air.

‘Wheeeee!’ she cheered happily.

‘You aresodrunk!’ laughed Bella as we carried her over to one of the chairs and sat her down.

‘Wheeee!’ she said again.

‘Yeah, Rox.Whee! Glad to see you having fun!’

‘I need towee!’ she said.
