‘Ladies, do we have plans for this evening?’
‘Yes! To have fun and basically get you drunk,’ laughed Roxy. ‘Why?’
‘My friend Geli is on her way to Florence and wondered if we fancied her taking us out on the town. What do you think?’
‘Geli? Is she the Italian teacher you mentioned?’ said Bella.
‘Yep. That’s the one. She’s really fun. I reckon you’ll like her.’
‘Sounds good to me!’ said Roxy. ‘She can take us to all the best bars and then we can go clubbing!’
‘Clubbing?’ My eyes widened. ‘I haven’t been clubbing since, since… I can’t even remember. Since my twenties, maybe? I’m too old for that.’
‘Bollocks! If you haven’t been for twenty years, that’sexactlywhy we definitely have to go. And you’re not too old. We’re in our prime. Forties are the new twenties.’
‘That’s what all the forty-somethings say!’
‘That’s settled, then. We’re going clubbing. I suggest you go back to the hotel and get a couple hours’ sleep, young lady, because tonight we are going out on the town, and if I have my way, you won’t be going to bed until tomorrow morning!’
