I winced at the thought. “Honestly, I hadn’t even started looking for a dress,” I replied.

“But the dress is like one of the first things you check off on your wedding list.”

“I know, but dress shopping isn’t as enjoyable for me as it is for you and Taylor. There’ are a lot of factors I have to consider when buying a dress,” I stated. “I have to make sure there’s no under wire that’ll rub my scar. No buttons or zippers, I can’t work myself. No train or veil that could get caught up in my wheels and absolutely no lace,” I uttered.

The girls looked at me with confusion on that one. “No lace?” Taylor’s brow shot up.

“What’s the deal with the lace?” Jade asked.

“Nothing. It just makes me feel itchy.” I shrugged.

The girls laughed.

“Well, this dress is stunning. I for one, can’t wait to see the look on Logan’s face when he sees you in it,” Jade says, clutching her chest in awe.

“Better yet out of it,” Taylor chimed in.

“Taylor,” Jade says, using the same tone she had moments before.

“You didn’t see what I walked in on last night,” Taylor chuckled, the remark slipping from her lips so freely.

Jade’s brow rose. “Again?”

Pressing my lips together with embarrassment, I shook my head. “We can’t help it,” I admitted. “This has been a long time coming for us.”

“I’d say,” Jade and Taylor high-fived.

“I’m being serious, guys. What if I mess this up?” I sighed, grabbing the pillow next to me for comfort.

“What makes you think you’re going to mess it up?” Taylor asked, taking up the spot next to me on her bed.

“I don’t know,” I sighed, on the verge of tears. “Logan and I said I love you last night and I swear I’ve been waiting a lifetime to hear those words,” I paused.

“Did you say them back?” Jade asked, taking up residency on my bed.

“Of course I did.”

“Then what’s the problem?” Taylor asked with confusion.

My breath caught in my chest. “I have this sinking feeling this is all going to come crumbling down around me.” I whipped the tears from my eyes.

“Oh Stephanie,” Jade cried, pulling me to her side. “Everything will be fine.”

“You don’t know that,” I cried. “Every time I’m happy something comes along and ruins it for me. And you guys, being with Logan makes me the happiest I’ve ever been,” I confessed.

“Aww,” Taylor whined. “Now you’re going to make me cry,” she replied, wrapping her arms around me on my left.

“Maybe this time will be different,” Jade expressed. “Maybe all the bad things happened in the past because you were going down the wrong path. Maybe being on this boat resets your bad luck somehow,” she added.

“God, I hope you’re right,” I chuckled.

Since we’re all going to the gala together, it made more sense for us to meet on the VIP deck instead of our dates picking us up at our room individually.

Checking my reflection one last time, I wanted to make sure everything was perfect. My hair’s pulled back into a fancy bun, my makeup applied to perfection. It’s natural and light, but with enough precision to stun even me, thanks to Jade.

My eyes move along the mirror to my dress. It’s not a gown like the others, but it was still elegant and hugged my curves in the best way possible. Taking a deep breath, I blew the air through my lips. “Everyone ready?”I asked, eager to get to Logan.

“We’re ready. We’ve been waiting for you.”
