I couldn’t help but glance towards Stephanie, then back at Jade while I answered. “My Opa taught me,” I replied, my eyes dropping low for a moment.

“Well, tell him he should be proud.”

As a tense pause hung in the air, I quickly turned away to clear my throat. “He passed nearly three years ago,” I replied, making a plate for myself.

“I’m so sorry, Logan. I had no idea,” Jade apologized.

“There’s no way you could have known,” I offered, leaning against the counter as Stephanie’s eyes found mine. “You have nothing to apologize for,” I offered, as something flashed in Stephanie’s eyes.

“Well, now I just feel like a complete jerk,” Jade pressed on. “Come out to the club with us tonight,” she said, looking for a way to make it right.

“Yeah?” I asked. “Stephanie in a club,” I smirked. “Now that’s something I need to see. I’m in on one condition.”

Stephanie’s eyes searched mine.

“The guys come along too.”

“Done,” Jade said, slapping her hand back on the counter as Taylor’s eyes shot open.

“To the Gee Spot,” she cheered, and I nearly choked on my food.

Stephanie’s lips curved upward before she let at a full laugh. “What? It’s the name of the club.”

“Seriously?”
