“I’m at ease,” she laughed.

“What do you guys say?” A smile breaks over my face. “Do you want to go?”

“Hell ya we do,” Jade sang.

Giving our names to the hostess at Opa’s, she kindly leads us through the restaurant towards a show kitchen. From the doorway, I can already see Logan and I take in the sight of him, as his smile deepens. Showing off his gorgeous dimples, I liked everything I saw from his styled hair to the light blue t-shirt he wore underneath the Opa branded apron, down the length of his body to his muscular legs and how good they looked encased in the dark faded denim jeans he wore, followed by the expensive shoes he struts around in.

Watching him wipe his hands on the apron, I had to admit it suited him fairly nicely.

“You guys made it,” he sang, moving chairs aside so I had a clear path. “I was starting to think you weren’t coming.”

“We got your note,” Jade said, smiling.

“Yeah, sorry about that,” I spoke up. “My signal has been really spotty since we boarded. I haven’t received any texts or calls since we’ve been here,” I explained, still worrying over the fact that I hadn’t heard from at least Ashlynne in almost two days.

“Well, you’re here now, right?” He offered, trying to make light of the situation.

Shrugging, I tried to bring my thoughts back around to a more positive light.

Taking up the stool across from Logan, I didn’t have much of an appetite after the big brunch we had earlier and my body is still fatigued from the flight regardless of the massages we had earlier but I couldn't pass up an opportunity to be around Logan so we accepted his invite.

“Well, it certainly smells amazing in here. What are you cooking for us?”

“Guess you’ll have to wait and see.”

Smirking to myself, I pressed my lips together as the thought of his against mine left me wonderingwhat they would taste like?

What they'd sound like when they said my name through clenched teeth?

Just as I was about to let my thoughts carry me away, in walked Brad and Seth, followed by Anne Marie and Andre. “Hey, guys, I had no idea you were joining us,” I said with excitement.

“Logan extended us an invite,” Andre said, clapping Logan on the shoulder.

“Glad you guys could make it,” Logan replied. “Anne Marie,” he added, nodding in her direction.

“Thank you for inviting us.”

“Of course. The more the merrier,” he said with a warm smile. “But I’ve got to get back to the kitchen. Have a seat, enjoy some drinks and the food will be along shortly.”

With the nine of us gathered around the show kitchen, I was reminded of a simpler time when I was comfortable observing people from the sidelines. When Logan came into my life, I felt safe coming out of my comfort zones knowing he’d be there to protect me.

Shoving the thoughts aside with a sigh, I watched Logan make his way around the kitchen with indecision. Studying his grandfather's recipes, heavy tension lined his forehead as he kept second-guessing himself. “You’re doing fine,” I whispered softly, as his eyes swung my way.

“You think so?” He asked, the corner of his mouth slowly lifting higher.

“You’re doing great,” I nodded, as he opened his mouth to speak, but closed it as his gaze roams across my face, almost as if he was refreshing his memory.
