“What?”

“Boat metaphors.”

Rolling my eyes, they wander across the room and land on Logan. “He’s here,” I blurt.

“Where?” Jade asks, with curiosity.

“Over there,” I whisper, motioning to a table across the way.

Following my line of sight, Jade’s eyes narrow. “He’s sitting at a table with three other men. If I had to judge, I’d say it was a business deal,” she adds.

“One of them must be Bradly, then. But I wonder who the other two are?”

“Could it be a manager and his agent?” Taylor asks, her eyes skimming over Bradly. “You know, the one that got him invited aboard the ship?”

“Could be,” I agree, but it feels unlikely.

“That explains why he hasn’t called you,” Jade points out. “He’s been too busy working.”

Knocking back the rest of my drink, I’m annoyed and confused at myself for the way my heart thumps in my chest every time I’m near or even thinking about him. “I’m going to need another drink,” I announce, trying to hold in my laughter.

“Me too,” Jade sings, searching the crowd for Jeremiah.

“Look who it is,” I said, welcoming Anne Marie, and Andre over.

“Yay, you guys made it,” Jade cheers, making room for them.

“Of course,” Anne Marie replies. “We rarely turn down an invitation.”

With the five of us gathered around the table, I desperately tried to focus on the company in front of me, but my thoughts kept running away with themselves.

“You’ll have to excuse her,” Jade says. “She’s recently reconnected with Mr. Athlete over there and he’s all she can think about.”

Anne Marie smiles. “You loved him,” she says matter-of-factly. My heart aches at the way she sympathizes with me.

“Something like that,” I whisper, closing my eyes against the pain splitting in my chest. This trip was supposed to be about having fun, I remind myself, but now that Logan’s here, I’m finding myself consumed with thoughts of him instead of enjoying the moment.

Needing to put them away, I pressed my lips together. “You’ll have to excuse me,” I said, clearing my throat as I powered up my chair. “Suddenly I need to use the ladies’ room,” I explained, backing away from the table.
