CHAPTER SIX

Cause Some Trouble

Stephanie

Taking in the boat’s sight, I didn’t realize how big it was going to be in person. I knew there were going to be quite a few floors, but this many? There had to be more than a dozen.

Shielding my eyes from the sun, the second thing I noticed was the heat the sun gives off out here. Holy frigging hotness. We’re not in Canada anymore.LA summers are no joke.

Returning my attention to the girls and our luggage, I held onto the cart while the driver helped Lila unload the bags from the car. Taylor and Jade worked together to load all of our stuff onto the rolling cart, while my thoughts quickly wandered towards Logan.

An old image of Logan skating onto the ice of the hockey rink runs through my mind.

He’s certainly changed since high school.

Scanning the loading dock, I couldn’t help myself from searching the crowds for him. I really wanted another glimpse of the man Logan Petersen had turned into. “Onward we go,” Jade yells, the excitement already showing.

I can’t believe we’re boarding this thing.

“Penny for your thoughts,” Taylor whispered at my side.

“This thing’s massive.”

“That’s what she said,” Taylor said, dropping her head back in a laugh.

Jade’s attention turned our way. “What are you two talking about?”

“You wouldn’t be interested,” Taylor said, baiting her to join our conversation.

“Well, now I’m interested.” Jade’s brow jumped.

“Steph was just impressed by the size of the boat.”

“And by boat you mean…” she lets the insinuation hang between us.

Quickly embarrassed by the accusation, my skin heated. “That’s not what I meant.”

“But now you’re thinking about it,” she sang. “Don’t lie Steph. It’s written all over your face.”

“Oh, my god. You’re horrible.”

“You know you love it.”

Spotting Lila in the distance, it looks as if she located Anne Marie and Andre. My eyes wandered in their direction, taking in his muscles and good looks.

Man, he’s built.I smirked.And covered in tattoos.I blushed.

As if he caught wind of my thoughts, he smirked with amusement.

I’m sure he has women ogling him all day long. How does Anne Marie stand it?

Pressing my lips together, I try to hide my amusement. Seeing them together as a couple gives me hope for someone like myself. For some, like Logan and me. I rubbed my lips together at the thought. But this world isn’t kind to coupleslike us… them.

Reconvening with Lila, she lit up when we approached. “Oh great, the gang’s all here,” she said to the woman in the Ocean Tides uniform.

“Wonderful,” the cruise attendant sang. “My name’s Mabel, and I’ll be your guide for the tour,” she explained. Leading us to a set of elevators, she pressed the call buttons on both. “We’re headed down to our coral deck. It houses two of our best accessible cabins,” she announced with pride as we waited for the carts to arrive.

Scanning the deck one last time, I sighed with disappointment when my search for Logan came up empty. He’ll be here.I told myself as the girls and I boarded the elevator on the left.
