“Wow, how thoughtful of you.”

He scoffs before turning his back on me to face his sister and her guy.

I have no idea what Nico says to him, but three seconds later the guy damn near runs out of the room.

“Was that necessary?” I bark.

Nico doesn’t even bother to reply. He just snarls at me over his shoulder before turning his attention back to Calli.

“Don’t poke the beast, babe,” Toby says in my ear.

“He’s being a jerk. Calli deserves to enjoy herself too.”

“You think any guy wants to see his little sister dressed like that and getting molested by a dickhead you don’t trust?”

I ignore the last bit, because for all I know, Toby and the guys are aware of exactly who he was and just how trustworthy—or not—he is. “He wasn’t molesting her, they were dancing. Innocently.”

“Sure they were. Just like you were with that guy’s hands on your arse.”

“Careful there, Toby. You sound awfully jealous.”

“Don’t read into things too much, babe. You might not like what you find.”

“Whatever.” I wave off his cryptic comment. “You asked me to dance. Now make good on that or I’ll find someone who’s more willing.”

Spinning around, I give him my back and start moving, cutting off anything else he might want to say.

Nico’s gone, thankfully. Although now Calli is dancing alone.

Holding my hand out, I gesture for her to come closer, and after abandoning her empty cup she takes it and the three of us dance together.

It’s not quite what it was before, but it’s better than nothing.

It’s a hell of a lot better than what happens next, anyway.
