Heath though, he’s being his usual self. Flirting and joking anyway he can. It’s something he does to hide the real him. I hate it for Heath, but it’s something he’s going to have to conquer himself.

Summer

Taking some much-needed time off of work is something I am thoroughly enjoying. After the three of us cleaned my mess of a condo, I stopped at the grocery store to pick up something to cook for Rome and me. He’s been amazing, always cooking even after he’s worked all day long. This is the least I can do for him, sure it won’t be something as extravagant as he would make. The man can cook, from pasta and meat sauce to casseroles, and of course grilling when his brothers aren’t manning the grill.

My skin flushes just thinking about that day, it seems so long ago.

I grab all of the ingredients I need to make one of my favorite dishes, chicken scampi with garlic parmesan rice, and a wedge salad. It’s not the hardest to make, but it is delicious.

While at the grocery store, I went ahead and picked up everything we could possibly need for the week and weekend to come. In fact, I may have gone overboard, when the cashier told me the price even my eyes gawked. That’s the one down fall goring to the grocery store hungry. You end up buying half the store.

“I think I’ll pour myself a glass of wine, while this cooks down,” I mumble to myself. I turn around, going to the fridge and scream, “Again, you got me again. I swear to all that is holy Rome, you will give me a heart attack one day,” my hand is at my chest trying to calm it down from thumping so hard.

“I was just enjoying the view, baby.”

“I’m sure that wasn’t all you were enjoying. I’m going to really have to stop talking to myself if you keep creeping while I do it,” I blow an errant curl out of my face, my hair is pulled back in a clip. My hair doesn’t get the memo that I don’t want it in my face, it’s an everyday battle.

“Yeah, that’s going to be a hard no. I like hearing you talk to yourself when you think I’m not around,” he grunts.

I smile and saunter towards him, he leans down and I’m on my toes to give him a welcome home kiss.

“You’re home a little late tonight,” I state when we pull apart.

“Met with mom and the boys, before coming home,” he responds.

“Is everything okay?”

“Absolutely, just checking in with them,” he says with a smile.

“Okay, dinner will be done in an about thirty minutes, if you want to change?”

“Yep, I’ll be right back,” he gives me another kiss and then I watch his firm backside in the slacks he wears so well, before I get back to pouring a glass of wine and overseeing dinner.

Rome

After I changed, we ate dinner at the kitchen bar, then moved outside to the back deck. The sun was setting, the perfect scenery for what I knew I was about to do. My plans of holding out and doing this somewhere else were thrown out of the water when I came home and she was concerned not only for me, but for what will now be her family too.

She’s looking out over the water, we moved the patio furniture so we would have an unobstructed view of the ocean. If I can’t find her curled up on the chair in the living room, this is where she’s at.

“I love you, Summer. Now and forever, this may seem too soon to many, but live all your years with me beside you,” I whisper into her ear. By the hiccup in her voice, I can tell she had no idea.

Her eyes lift up to mine, she’s crying and smiling at the same time. Fuck, I hate seeing her cry, but to know this is for the best reason possible, I’ll gladly take it.

“Yes! Rome, I love you so much, and can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you,” her lips find mine, the ring box is dropped in my lap and she’s straddling my waist.

Our tongues twining together, her writhing on my lap.

“Make love to me,” she says pulling away.

“With everything I have, I will. First though, you need my ring on your finger.”

Who am I to deny her, I grab the ring box, take the ring out, and place it on her ring finger.

“It’s so beautiful, thank you, Rome. You’ve given me everything I could have ever imagined.

“It’s you I’m thankful for, baby.” I respond, then I’m lifting her up in my arms, her hips never stop writhing, and I can the need pouring out of her body.

“Seems like I can’t take my time with you ever,” I say, slamming her body against the wall next to the sliding glass doors leading into the house. Not caring that it’s out in the open and we could get caught by a beach goer.
