Prologue

In Power Trip: Trey Addison ventured off to Geneva, Switzerland in order to deliver an insider report to Jürgen, the CEO of a corporation in which he had invested. His friend with benefits, Liv, wanted to tag along so she invited her friend, Mandy Grey.

Mandy turns out to be someone from Trey’s distant past, Amanda Greyson. In fact, two decades earlier their families had been quite close. However, one fateful night Trey’s father had betrayed them and in the following months proceeded to destroy their family business. Mandy’s family had been forced to move a thousand miles away and completely give up the life they had always known. Mandy had only one reason for being on that flight to Geneva, revenge.

Following the death of his father, Liv abandoned Trey and he admitted to being drawn to Mandy. After several stress filled days in New York City, Trey had been attacked by the paparazzi, interviewed by law enforcement and even his own twin brother had accused him of murdering his father.

In an effort to escape the tension of the situation he and Mandy decided to take a quick trip to Monaco to enjoy Grand Prix week. Shortly after landing, Mandy’s father had insisted on talking to Trey and told him that he and his mother had been involved in a long-term affair. An affair that was still going on at the time he was born.

Is it possible that Mandy is his half-sister? That would be totally messed up.

In Power Play: Jürgen ran a DNA test for Trey and Mandy, confirming that they were indeed not blood relatives. This came as a major relief, but it was only a temporary lift to their spirits due to all the events unfolding at home. They were forced to return to the U.S. after Trey was informed that his brother Tyler had attempted to commit suicide.

Once home, Mandy went back to her home in Lynchburg, TN to visit her ailing mother and search for letters that would clear Trey of fraud charges. After spending a wonderful evening with her mother having a heart to heart conversation about her father’s affair, her mother died the next day. Trey flew out to Lynchburg to be at Mandy’s side. With chaos ensuing, Mandy and Trey had to return to the city after only a couple of days.

On the flight back to New York, Trey received several strange calls from Tommy who finally admits that he deserted Liv in Monaco after a night of partying on a yacht. His suspicious actions continue and culminate with the admission that he had referred the doctor who was poisoning Tyler. When the police are dispatched to question the doctor, they find him dead of an apparent overdose.

Hours later, after a heated argument with Tommy, the chairman of Addison Media is also found dead in his bathroom, an apparent suicide. This unleashed a wave of fear among the remaining business partners and family members, as everything seemed to be spinning out of control. After a tense meeting with Tommy, Trey received a call from Jack Ryker suggesting that he hire the Alpha 9 to provide protection for everyone until the storm passes.

While waiting for a return call from the Alpha 9 leader, Trey and Mandy’s limousine is rammed from the rear by a black sedan as they attempt to enter the parking lot of the hospital. The limo driver is forced to jump the curb and careen down the ambulance entrance in order to get them out of harms way.

It’s definitely time to call in some reinforcements. It’s time for a Power Shift!

Chapter 1

Trey

“Shit, it’s your dad,” I tell Mandy after looking down at my phone. After the ride we just took, I was hoping that a decorated Navy Seal was calling. “I think I’ll let you answer it.” My hand is still shaking as I hand her the phone.

“He called you, not me,” she replies, pushing the phone back toward me.

We are both so rattled by what just happened that neither of us wants to have our ass chewed right now. I glare at her while answering the call. “Hi Ray, I’ll bet you are calling about the article.”

“Yes, as a matter of fact. What the hell were you thinking?” he snaps, getting right down to business.

“It wasn’t my idea,” I reply, not able to form a better thought at the moment. “Before we get into it, just let me tell you that we were just intentionally rear-ended by a black sedan and had to jump the curb to get away from them. I’m expecting a call from a security expert any minute, so I don’t have time to talk.”

“Jesus! What’s going on?” His tone instantly changes. “Is Mandy okay?” he asks with fatherly concern suddenly overriding his anger.

“Yes, she’s fine,” I assure him, holding the phone up for her to say hello.

“Hi Daddy,” she says with a slight quiver in her voice. “I’ll give you a call as soon as we are upstairs.”
