He climbed onto the bed carefully, and the old iron frame groaned beneath his weight. Instead of moving over me, he lay back against the mattress and held out one hand.
“So you’re on top,” he said. “You decide how fast we go, and you stop whenever you want. Yes?”
I put my hand in his. “Yes.”
He drew me toward him until I was kneeling over his hips. I braced both hands against his chest and felt the hard beat of his heart beneath my palm, exactly where I had touched him earlier that afternoon in the Pit.
He noticed it too.
His hands came to rest on my hips, broad and warm, but he did not pull me down. He only looked up at me with those steady brown eyes and waited.
I wrapped my hand around his cock and guided the head to my wet entrance before lowering myself onto him.
The first stretch was almost too much.
My body resisted for a second, opening around him gradually as the pressure gave way to a sharp burn. I stopped with only part of him inside me and took a breath.
Silas went completely still beneath me.
His jaw tightened and a vein stood out along his neck, but he did not thrust upward or try to hurry me past it.
“That’s it,” he murmured. “Take your time. You’re doing so well, sweetheart. Take your time.”
So I did.
I breathed and let my body adjust until the sting softened, then sank lower by inches. After another moment, the tension finally gave way, and I lowered myself the rest of the way down.
The sound that left me came out at the same time as his.
For several seconds, neither of us moved.
Then Silas sat up with me still around him.
His arms came around me as he rose, one securing my back and the other supporting me beneath my ass. My legs wrapped instinctively around his waist as he lifted me clear of the mattress and held me against his chest.
He did it so easily that something inside me gave way.
I burst into tears.
Silas froze at once.
“Wren. Did I hurt you?”
“No.” I was crying and laughing at the same time, clinging to the back of his neck. “No, no. Don’t stop. Please don’t stop.”
He remained perfectly still.
“It’s just that nobody has ever…” My voice broke, and I pressed my wet face into the side of his neck. “Nobody has ever been able to hold me like this.”
His arms tightened slightly around me.
I swallowed and tried again. “Nobody has ever made me feel so… light.”
For a moment, he said nothing.
Then his mouth brushed my hair.
“You are light,” he said quietly. “You’re the lightest thing I’ve ever held.”
