Where We Stay

Dean

That one fucking word nearly kills me.

Blair pushes away from the doorway and starts walking toward me, and I swear every coherent thought leaves my head.

The black lace is going to haunt me for the rest of my life.

“Come here,” I say, my voice rougher than I mean it to be.

She smiles.

Not the nervous smile she gives when she’s unsure of herself. Not the one she uses when she’s trying to convince everyone she’s okay.

This one is different.

Confident.

Happy.

Mine.

Fuck.

She stops between my knees, and I place my hands on her hips, looking up at her.

“You bought this for me?” I look up at her with hooded eyes, rubbing her ass and hips.

“Maybe.”

“Blair.”

Her grin widens. “G helped.”

“Of course, she fucking did.”

She laughs, and I pull her closer until her body presses against mine.

“Remind me to thank Georgie.”

Blair raises her brow. “I don’t think she needs encouragement.”

“Fair point.”

I kiss the soft skin beneath her ribs, feeling her fingers slide into my hair.

A week ago, she was standing in front of me terrified that letting me into her life would destroy mine.

Now she’s here.

In my bedroom.

Wearing my house key on the same key-ring as hers.

Choosing me.

I tighten my arms around her.

I’m never going to take that for granted.
