“Smooth.” I can’t help but laugh, and Dean joins me.
“Squish together and say cheese!” Aspen says, pointing the camera at us.
* * *
Aspen is asleep with her new camera tucked against her chest, and Dean and I are curled up on the couch with a glass of wine each.
“I still can’t believe it,” I say, turning the house key over in my hand.
Dean’s expression grows serious. “I meant what I said, Blair. You have a place here. With me and Pen.”
My chest warms because I know he means it.
“I want that,” I tell him. “All of it.”
I lean over and kiss him, hoping he can feel exactly how much this means to me.
When I pull away, I place my wine on the coffee table and stand.
Dean watches me head toward his bedroom. “Where do you think you’re going?”
“Wouldn’t you like to know?”
His quiet laugh follows me down the hallway.
I slip into Dean’s en suite and pull out the little present I’ve been keeping hidden. Earlier this week, G somehow convinced me to buy a set of black lingerie.
Okay, convinced is generous.
She held it up, raised an eyebrow and I folded immediately.
Once I’ve changed, I hear Dean enter the bedroom.
“You’re taking an awfully long time in there, Miss Morgan,” he calls.
I laugh beneath my breath, knowing he’ll appreciate the wait when I finally come out.
I open the door and step into the bedroom.
Dean looks up from the edge of the bed.
He freezes.
Completely fucking freezes.
“Blair.”
I lean against the doorway, suddenly feeling far less confident now that he’s actually looking at me.
“You said I could thank you properly.”
His jaw tightens as his eyes travel slowly over me.
“Baby, if you walk over here wearing that, I’m going to spend the rest of the night showing you exactly what you do to me.”
Good.
