It’s just as delectable and intoxicating as I imagined it would be. His skilled tongue plays over mine as sharp teeth graze my lips. He demands all my air, my whimpers, and my keening before he moves to bury his nose in my neck.
A prick of pain makes me gasp as he bites, then he draws in my blood, claiming me in the way only a vampire can.
Godric takes over where Arwan left me desperate, devouring my swollen lips with his mouth and his demands.
“Choose, little moon,” he whispers into my mouth before he kisses me again.
My entire body submits.
What am I supposed to choose, again?
And then there’s a spike of pleasure between my legs as a thumb rolls over my underwear, reminding me that I’m not a slave to the Alpha. Godric lets me breathe long enough for me to glance down and find a gorgeous male watching me.
The Outcast.
He keeps my gaze as his sharp teeth drag the thin cloth down. The air vibrates with his purring between my legs like he belongs there.
And then he…
The flash of the erotic scene vanishes almost as quickly as it appeared, and I blink a few times as I stare up at the stone ceiling.
“Alive,” Ulara says again, this time with faint amusement to her tone as she releases my wrist. No telling what sounds I had just been making after having a dream like that.
It’s a side effect of the infusion, that silky voice supplies inside my head. Sorry I couldn’t warn you.
I don’t think anything could have warned me about that, I numbly reply, my intimate parts still throbbing with memory.
Or sensation, or whatever the hell that just was.
Because it wasn’t real. Both Arwan and Godric are standing far away from me, their hands completely to themselves.
And the Outcast is nowhere to be found. He’s just an echo in my head that I’m starting to wonder if I’m imagining.
But when I manage to tilt my head to glance at the two males who are very much here, they aren’t unaffected as if everything had been simply my imagination. Arwan’s eyes are bright and intense, his mouth open, and his vampiric fangs on full display. Godric doesn’t look any calmer.
“Put those away,” Ulara snaps at both of them, because Godric has his claws out, too.
A deep rumble rolls through Godric’s chest, making my entire body stiffen with the desire to curl up and become invisible.
Whatever clout Ulara might think she has, she’s reached that limit.
“Wait outside, Ulara,” Godric demands.
The female stares him down, as if completely unafraid of the Alpha that could rip her in two. I have no doubt that she’s strong, but she’s no match for the Pack Alpha. “I warned you both that attending the evaluation is not recommended. Confirmation of compatibility has… side effects.” She glances at Arwan. “For both species, it seems.”
My head swims with that information. “Does that mean I’m compatible with both?” I squeak.
I have no question now what kind of compatibility I’ve just been tested for.
Monster Isle isn’t just looking for candidates to fuel their games.
They’re looking for mates that can carry their young.
My heart sinks.
Ulara nods. “Yes, both,” she confirms, “which is the only survivable outcome.”
“Finish the evaluation,” Arwan says. While he’s not a Pack Alpha, he has a growl to his voice that still makes my toes curl. Perhaps that’s the hybrid part of him, or maybe I’m just susceptible.
