“What are you doing?”

“I’m just making sure.”

Fee huffed.

“And I think you’re the most beautiful person I’ve ever known.”

Fee couldn’t help her smile. “Is that all?”

Theo scrunched his face as though he was thinking. “That’s all I have for now. You got any?”

“You snore.”

“How dare you!” Theo said with a gasp.

“You do! So loud. And you eat like a human teenager.”

“Ew.”

“Yeah, exactly,” Fee said with a laugh.

“And what else? I know you have more, Fee. Bigger stuff.”

She blew out a long sigh, gripping Theo’s hand. “You never healed from the trauma of your childhood. Your dad was an abusive bastard, and your brothers treated you badly.” Theo flinched but never let go of her hand, never let his gaze drift from hers. “You don’t see yourself the way I do. The way everyone else does. You are a good man, Theo.”

“I want to be better.”

Fee nodded. “So do it. Be better.”

“Taking care of you…” He sighed. “It felt like I was finally doing something right. Like I was done fucking around. Like maybe… Like maybe I don’t have to be useless anymore.”

“I’ve never once thought you were useless, Theo.”

He swallowed hard and Fee could see the emotion swimming in his green eyes. He leaned forward and rested his forehead against hers.

“You don’t have to prove anything to your brothers or your pack. You can just … be you.”

His eyes closed and his breath tickled Fee’s cheeks. “I happen to like you,” she added and watched Theo’s lips tilt up in the corners.

“What else?” he whispered.

“You can be a possessive, jealous asshole.”

A slow, wicked smile crossed his lips. “Well, I can’t make any promises about that. You are mine, Fee. And wolves don’t like to share.”

He cupped her face in his hands and brought his mouth to hers in a searing kiss. Fee groaned against him. Finally. Finally. This was what she had been waiting for; this was what she needed.

Theo pulled away just far enough to whisper across her lips. “I guess all our secrets are out.”

“I guess so.”

“I love you, Phoebe.”

She took his bottom lip between her teeth. “Then prove it.”

Theo growled low in his throat. “Oh, little wolf goddess, you’re asking for trouble.”

Fee smiled against his mouth. She ran a hand down Theo’s cheek, her fingers tracing his scar. Theo had always been trouble, but she’d never once regretted it, regretted him.
