Harper and Ivy both shout no loudly enough that Charlie startles.

Gray immediately stands.

Ivy reaches for the baby.

Harper apologizes.

Micah rubs one hand over his mouth, hiding a smile.

I wait until everyone settles again.

“This has been productive,” I say. “We have confirmed that every single man in Dallas is unacceptable.”

“Not every man,” Micah says.

The room calms.

He is still sitting in the chair. All calm and mildly amused. Far too comfortable for someone who has just gained everyone’s attention.

Harper turns toward him slowly, but Micah looks at me. “I know a guy.”

Of course he does.

Harper’s face lights up. “Who?”

“Paul.”

I wait.

“That is not enough information.” Harper glares at him.

“Paul Keller. We went to high school together. We play golf sometimes.”

“You play golf?” Gray asks.

“Occasionally.”

“You’ve never invited me.”

“You complain through mini golf.”

“Mini golf has obstacles.”

“That is the point.”

Harper waves between them. “Focus, Micah, who is Paul?”

Micah nods. “He’s twenty-nine. Single. Works downtown.”

“Doing what?” Ivy asks.

“Architecture.”

Harper turns to me. “An architect.”

“I heard him,” I say, staring at the ceiling.

“He has a real job.” Ivy suggests.
