Wren
So . . . I went on a walk with Henry late last night and saw the weirdest thing.
Mollie
Is it the raccoons again? Post in the Facebook group so Jackie can see.
Wren
Nope. It was Jade going into Gabriel’s apartment.
When I read it, I nearly dropped my phone. I hadn’t gone to Gabriel’s apartment.
At least not consciously.
Mollie
WHAT
Piper
Jade, do you have something to tell us?
Jade
I’m not doubting you, Wren, but are you sure you saw me go into his apartment?
Wren
Yep. Were you drunk? You stumbled a few times, but he opened the door like he was waiting for you.
“Oh God.” I said it out loud.
That confirmed far too much. I’d not told a soul about my sleepwalking habit, mostly because I was so determined to handle it on my own. After depending on Gabriel for so long, it killed me when he left, and my habit got that much worse. The last thing I needed was to depend on someone else and have them get tired of me.
That was clearly biting me in the ass now. I’d gone outside to the point that I got caught by Wren.
I was so fucked.
Eventually, my mortification faded enough for me to reread the messages. I was trying to figure out a way to lie my ass off and appease their suspicions. But then I really took in their words.
Gabriel had opened the door as if he were waiting for me. How was Gabriel involved at all? How was that possible?
I’d woken up in my own room.
Unless he’d brought me back.
I needed to see him. If I’d randomly done this, he would lecture me about better safety. Then I could awkwardly apologize and promise it wouldn’t happen again.
But first, I needed to explain this to my friends.
Jade
I wasn’t drunk, but it’s kind of close. First, I need to figure out what the fuck happened with Gabriel.
Wren
You really don’t remember???
