“Okay, Dr. Money.”
As I was walking up, I saw the porch light come on. Nash opened the front door before I reached it.
“Hey.”
I stepped inside. “Hi.”
We kissed and I immediately looked around his shoulder.
“Oh.”
Nash closed the door. “What?”
“Nothing.”
“No. What was the ‘oh’?”
I walked farther inside. “Your house is nice.”
“Thank you.”
I slowly looked around. There was a large sectional, a very nice coffee table, and beautiful artwork. Everything matched. It looked like a very expensive furniture showroom where nobody was allowed to sit.
“You hired someone to do this?”
“No.”
I shook my head. “Your rug is too small.”
“My feet fits on it.”
“And your artwork is too high.”
“Anything else?”
I looked around. “How much time do we have?”
Nash grabbed my waist from behind. I laughed as he pulled me against him.
“You’ve been in my house forty-five seconds.”
“You invited an interior designer over. This is your fault.”
He kissed the side of my neck. “We have reservations in an hour,” he said.
I looked at my watch. “Then why aren’t you dressed?”
He stepped back. “I am dressed.”
I looked back at his face. “No, you’re not.”
“I’m changing.”
“You better.”
He pointed toward the kitchen. “There’s wine.”
The wine was supposed to be only one glass. We had dinner reservations at eight-thirty. I had on a dress that deserved to be seen, and Nash had eventually put on an outfit I approved.
