Imogene Peppercorn had been mentioned in the clubhouse several times but never in front of anyone but the members.
Jekyll jerked his head, scowling. “You know her?”
Addison nodded. “I met her at Barry’s. Well, actually she was going to the strip club.”
Jekyll froze, wondering if he’d heard Addison correctly. Did she say strip club?
“What was she there for?” Cross asked.
There was usually only one reason anyone went to a strip club. Entertainment.
“Something about her job. A counselor, I think. She was meeting with one of the dancers.” Addison glanced over at Jekyll. “She’s very sweet.”
Yeah, I fucking know.
“When?” Jekyll snapped. He was unable to level his tone. Her presence in his club wearing those red leather pants was sending him over the edge.
Addison shrugged. “A couple days ago. I think she’s staying in Killcreek at the motel.”
She’d been in Killcreek, this close for days, and he knew nothing about it?
Cross shared a look with him then turned to Addison. “Did you invite her?”
“No.” Addison snorted. “I barely know her.”
The prospect laughed, staring across the room. “Looks like Gent knows her pretty well. Lucky bastard.”
Blood rushed through his veins. “Prospect! You are two seconds away from getting knocked the fuck out, so shut the fuck up.”
His face paled, and his lips flattened.
“I think Gent might’ve invited her.” Addison sighed and rolled her eyes. “The bathroom at the bar is down again and when I went to use the strip club’s, I saw Gent at the bar with her. They looked…” Addison peeked up through her lashes. “Friendly.”
I’m gonna fucking kill him.
Jekyll slammed his bottle on the table and rounded his brothers, stalking across the room. He didn’t even bother looking to see who he was plowing through in the crowd. His main focus was Imogene at the table with fucking Gent.
Jekyll was only a foot away when he slapped his hand on the table, glaring across at Gent. Through his peripheral vision he saw her jump but kept laser focused on his brother.
“What the fuck did I tell you?” He shouted.
Jekyll had specifically told him to stay away from her. Gent had the nerve to smirk and side eye Imogene, who hadn’t said a word.
“You tell me a lot of things.” He lifted his chin. “Refresh my memory, Jek.”
Ah, you motherfucker.
From the pumping blood through his veins and his muscles constricting so tightly, Gent’s death wasn’t a far-fetched possibility.
Gent grabbed his glass, took a swig, and licked his lips. “Actually, it’s coming back to me now. Earlier, I mentioned the party with the new batch, and you said I should ‘have fun with that.’” Gent grinned and eyed Imogene. “Just doing what you told me, Jek.”
Gent’s words played over in his head. It’s just not like you to miss pussy. I have it on good authority there’ll be a new batch here tonight.
Jekyll could almost envision his hands wrapping around Gent’s throat and squeezing the last breath out of him. These antics were nothing new from Gent, but it had never hit this close to Jekyll.
“Hi, Jekyll.”
He clenched his jaw and scraped his nails against the wood of the table. Her soft voice did nothing to calm him, but it did distract him from murdering his brother with his bare hands. He slowly angled his head.
