Jekyll gave him a slight push and released him. When he turned, Imogene was standing a few feet away, obviously stunned but showing no semblance of fear.
“Where are you parked?”
When she angled her head in the direction of Lou, he stepped to the side, blocking her view.
“Where?”
Her throat bobbed, and she pointed to the parking lot entrance. He lifted his chin, and she followed his order, heading to the driveway. He stayed close behind her. Every few seconds she’d look back. He was going to make sure she got in her car and left. As they passed the back of the building, he noticed three members of security standing by the door. He only recognized one, Jared, who held the highest position in Rogue and Trey’s security. Jekyll had no doubt it would be reported back that a member of Killcreek was on their property. And I don’t give a fuck.
When she abruptly stopped, he slowed his steps, glancing down at the car. It was an older model but in decent shape. A sensible, safe, and good on gas type of car. Exactly what he’d expect from her.
“This is me.”
“Get in the car.”
Instead of doing what she’d been told, Imogene moved closer. Barely a foot separating them.
“Thank you for helping me out with Lou. I just wanted to tell him I was leaving, because if I didn’t that would be rude. But your friend, Gent, was right. He tried to give me a package.” She drew in a breath. “I just want you to know I had no idea he was a drug dealer.”
And she had no clue he and the club transported drugs. It was a world where she didn’t belong.
“Alright. Go home.”
She licked her lips drawing his gaze to her mouth. Too many thoughts were running through his mind and all of them dirty in this close proximity.
“Can I just explain?”
“Explain what?”
“How I got here. With a drug dealer.” She gulped. “I don’t know many people in Lawry, so when Ricky and Angie invited me I thought it was a good opportunity to make some friends.” She snorted. “That backfired, obviously.”
You think?
Jekyll steeled his features, refusing to give in to a smile. He needed to put some distance between them. He gestured to her car.
“Get in.”
She opened the door and sat, glancing up at him.
“Now, go home.”
“Okay.” She smiled. “Thanks for escorting me and stepping in with Lou back there. I know I already thanked you for that but I really appreciate it.”
He gave a curt nod, expecting her to close the door. She didn’t. Imogene stared back at him, her bright eyes reminding him of the first time he’d seen her in the yard at the prison.
“Would you like to…” She cleared her throat and immediately blushed. “I mean, do you think you might want…”
Whatever she was trying to convey had her hands shaking slightly and her chest rising rapidly. This is where his intuition came in handy. She was showing all the signs.
“Want what?” He growled, and she clamped her thighs together.
She darted her eyes from side to side, and her hands tightened over her knees. Is she going to fucking ask me out? Jekyll didn’t know everything about females, especially women like Imogene, but he was sensing she was trying to build the courage to ask him on a date.
She blinked and pointed over her shoulder. “Would you like a ride to your bike?”
That’s not what she was going to ask.
Jekyll cocked his brow. “That’s what you wanna ask me?”
