“Hi.”
“We need to talk.” Cross gestured for Jekyll and Hyde to follow him.
Jekyll looked back at her. “Wait here a sec.”
“Okay.” She clasped her hands, looking around the yard.
They were about ten feet away, and he noticed Wraith move closer to Imogene. He didn’t say anything to her. He was just acting as a protective shield.
“What’s going on?” Jekyll asked.
“Called you because Wraith and Hyde hadn’t showed up.”
Hyde snorted. “Have you seen the fucking interstate construction?”
Cross glared at him but turned back to Jekyll. “They got here about fifteen minutes ago, so we had the meeting.” Cross paused. “They took the bait.”
As expected.
“Gonna set up the meeting with Oz?”
“Yeah.” He nodded. “Now let’s get the fuck outta here.”
Cross started to walk away, but Jekyll stopped him.
“Need something.”
It had been on his mind since last night. She needed the truth and he wanted to make sure she got it.
Cross arched his brow. “What do you need?”
“The name of the guy who killed her dad inside.”
He could feel Hyde’s eyes on him, but Jekyll stared back at Cross.
“Why?”
Jekyll dragged his hand over his beard. “A lot of missing pieces to her story. Just looking to fill in the gaps. Figured, I’d start at the end and work my way back.”
He expected more questions. He didn’t get any.
Cross gave a curt nod. “We’ll get it.”
Jekyll had given up a lot for the club and asked for little in return. But he wanted this. For her.
“Eden?” Imogene’s high-pitched voice was loud and excited.
Jekyll spun around and watched her rush past Wraith and Cue, making a beeline for the yard. Where the hell was she going? Jekyll stalked to the back, stopping next to the brothers.
“What the fuck?” Cue muttered, jerking his gaze to Jekyll. “She knows Eden?”
This is Eden, the Satan’s club whore? The redhead cradled a scrappy dog against her chest and smiled.
“Hi Imogene.” Eden knitted her brows, clearly confused. “What are you doing here?”
Imogene hooked her thumb over her shoulder. “I’m with Jekyll.”
Eden glanced over and immediately lost her smile. Her face paled and she stepped back. Fear was easy to recognize. She scanned him and the others as they approached.
