My eyebrows climb higher with every swipe.
“You’re kidding me.”
“What?”
“You’ve been hiding this.”
“I haven’t been hiding anything.”
“We practically have the same playlist, Fionn.”
A corner of his mouth lifts. “Why are you surprised?”
I look up from the screen. “I don’t know.”
“Eilish told us we had the same taste in music,” he points out.
Fionn takes his phone back. “You assumed we had nothing in common.”
I shrug and smile. “I think we’ve got a lot in common, actually.”
His eyes meet mine. “I worked that out a while ago.”
The intercom buzzes, and he moves away. “That’ll be your coffee, little wild thing.”
A couple of minutes later, he returns carrying two takeaway cups and hands one to me.
I take a sip and hum out my approval. “This is exactly how I take my coffee.”
“I know.”
“How?”
His brows drift up, genuinely puzzled by the question. “Eilish told me.”
“You asked her?”
“Sera.” He gives me a look that says I should already know the answer.
I stare at the cup, unable to hide my grin until thoughts of Eilish creep in, and the happiness fades.
“I have to talk to her.” I take another sip. “Just to hear her voice and make sure she’s okay.”
“I’m working on it.”
We drink the rest of our coffee leaning against opposite sides of the kitchen island, talking about nothing important until the silence settles comfortably between us.
Eventually, I set my empty cup on the counter. “I should get going.”
His expression softens, but he doesn’t argue. “Okay.”
“I need to spend some time at the yard with my family.”
He nods and slides a hand into his trousers pocket.
“And I need to talk to Saint alone, or with Keira, maybe.”
“How long will you be?”
