“He’s a thief and stole everything from everybody out of spite.”
“No,” Sevyn clasped her hands together. “He was bullied and ostracized as a child due to being dropped into the wrong village anyway. Not, to mention, he brought everything back.”
“So, all is supposed to be forgiven because of that one gesture?”
Adjusting herself to give him a clear view of her face, Sevyn shrugged. “I don’t know. You tell me. You seem to think it’ll work for you.”
“That ain’t even fair. We’re not talking about us.”
“You’re right. If we were, I'd be talking about how trifling you are for holding me hostage for a movie day and not feeding me. I know you hear my stomach over here growing.”
“I did. And I’ve been waiting for you to be a big girl and ask me for what you want. You choosing to be stubborn and starve is not my struggle. It’s yours.”
Kissing her teeth, Sevyn gently swatted his chest. “Can you please feed me, Mr. Wallace?”
“Damn, that was easy. And you said please? I need to start popping up on you in the morning more often.”
“If you value your life, I wouldn’t recommend it.”
Mushing her away from him, Dallas pulled himself up from the couch. “You got food in the kitchen?”
“Yes sir.”
“Aight, go get dressed cause we still have other shit to do today. By the time you’re done, I should be finished.”
“Aye, aye, captain,” Sevyn playfully saluted him, climbing up. “Any other orders?”
He resisted the urge to smack her ass as she walked past, reminding himself that they weren’t on that level yet.
“Gone about your business, smart ass,” he quipped, heading into the kitchen. It didn’t take long for him to pull a quick lunch together and as promised, by the time Sevyn returned, he was finishing up.
“It smells amazing in here,” she commented, walking up behind him, resting her chin on his arm as she peeked around his shoulder. “What is it?”
“Mediterranean grilled chicken, rice, and mixed veggies, nothing too major.”
“I forgot how well you know your way around the kitchen.”
“Mmhm,” he murmured, cutting a piece of chicken off. “Here, taste.”
Grabbing the piece of chicken from the fork with her teeth, Sevyn groaned, breaking all her mama’s rules and talking with a mouthful. “That is so damn amazing.”
Dallas let out a cocky chuckle. “I know. You ain’t gotta tell me.”
Kissing her teeth, Sevyn reached up to mush the back of his head. “Alright, it’s good and all but don’t get beside yourself.”
“Go sit and let me finish working, woman,” he ordered, reaching into the cabinet to grab a couple of plates.
“I like how you have your hands all up in my cabinets and whatnot like you live here,” Sevyn grinned, sliding onto one of the stools perched at her island.
“You want to eat or nah?” Dallas inquired, not even bothering to turn around.
“I’ma be quiet. Only for the food, though.”
“Uh-huh, that’s what I thought.”
As he worked on plating their food, Sevyn grew quiet a moment before speaking again. “If I asked what you had planned for the rest of the day, would you tell me?”
Turning around, he placed her food down in front of her. “Depends on how nicely you ask.”
