Max didn’t move at first, and that set my heart hammering even more. He simply stood there, water running over his shoulders, his breathing slow, measured, as though he was deciding on his next course of action.
My pulse wouldn’t settle.
Say something, Quinn. Move. Joke. Do literally anything.
For once, I did nothing.
Max turned towards me, and closed the gap between us. One step was all it took to have us standing under the same spray, water catching on his shoulders before sliding onto mine. He didn’t touch me.
He didn’t need to.
“You think this is a game,” he said quietly.
I swallowed. “No.”
Not anymore.
His gaze dropped briefly, and he curled his hand around my shaft, tugging on it. I stifled a moan. Then he looked up at me.
“You came here to see what I’d do.”
My mouth went dry. “Yes.”
For a second, I thought he might step back, laugh it off, remind me this wasn’t Obsidian.
Instead, he reached past me and turned off the shower. The water cut out with a heavy clunk, and in a heartbeat the room went from roar to hush. Only his shower still ran. He leaned in, his breath warm against the side of my face.
“If I walk away right now, you don’t get to complain.”
“I won’t.” Don’t walk away. Please don’t.
“And if I don’t—” He clammed up, his eyes locked on mine.
Line reached.
I didn’t look away, I didn’t grin. I simply held his gaze.
Max’s shoulders relaxed, and he brought his hands up to place them flat on the tiles, bracketing my head. He wasn’t trapping me.
He was claiming the space.
Then he stood close enough that our shafts met, and I could feel the heat of him.
“I’m not walking away,” he said.
The air crackled between us.
He rocked his body, sliding his cock against mine, our chests meeting.
My breathing hitched and my belly quivered, but I didn’t move, didn’t look away. I knew what was coming, and I wanted it.
He inhaled sharply, just as the locker room door swung open again and loud voices intruded.
The spell shattered, and Max stepped away instantly, his control snapping back into place. Two new guys walked in mid-conversation, seemingly not caring that we were standing way too close.
Max flipped his shower off, grabbed his towel, and wrapped it low around his hips. I followed him, my hands trembling. The two guys laughed about something as they stepped under the showers without looking at us. I waited until the spray started before I dared look at Max.
He was watching me.
